Really cool, small ramen shop in a little laneway. Has a nice authentic vibe. I had the spicy fish miso ramen, which seems to be the signature dish. I was so good, great broth, big pieces of meat and not super spicy. I'll go again!
View on GoogleOrdered the recommended fish spicy miso. Hmm, how should I put it—monotonous. The flavor lacks depth. To put it nicely, maybe it's a flavor you won't get tired of, but if you go all fired up for a satisfying bowl on your occasional meal out, it falls short. The three powders—fish, shrimp, and chili(?)—raise expectations, but even when dissolved into the soup, not much changes. The chashu, where you can really taste the umami of the meat, is Good! And 3 slices at that. On top of that, 800 yen a bowl these days is appreciated. Plus I'd like to give credit for the great value of upsizing to large for just +50 yen. Having a partnership with the parking lot next door is ◎ too. If I lived nearby or it was near my workplace, I might want to go now and then.
View on GoogleToday again, in search of delicious ramen, I came to Heibon Kujiraya. It's a nostalgic old-style ramen shop in a retro shopping street, and the sushi shop across the way has a nice vibe too! Looking at the menu, I thought I'd have the most popular fish spicy miso, but being a tomato lover, I saw there was tomato ramen (700 yen) so I ordered it without hesitation! It arrived, and unlike what I'd imagined, the tomato was added on top afterward, so first I took a sip of the soup as is—the soup, with the richness and sweetness of miso, was very delicious! After fully savoring the umami of the miso, I dissolved the tomato into the soup, and the refreshing acidity of the tomato combined with the cheese made the soup even more delicious—today too I enjoyed it deliciously😋🍴💕! I fully enjoyed tomato ramen, which you never know where you'll come across, for the first time in a while♪
View on GoogleIt's more than a 10-minute walk from Makomanai Station. It's tucked away in a spot you couldn't reach without Google Maps. The inside is full of autograph boards and posters, with a 4-seat counter and a few table seats. Ordered the signature fish spicy miso for 800 yen. The owner runs it solo, and the bowl arrived in just under 10 minutes. The bright red soup, the chashu sticking out, and the three colored powders on the nori in the middle catch your eye. The soup is so red you can't see the noodles, so first I lifted them up. They were surprisingly ordinary Chinese noodles. Now for the all-important soup: it has a decent level of spiciness, and as you keep eating you start to sweat. But true to the 'fish' in its name, it's a solid soup where you can really taste the seafood umami too. The powders are fish powder, shrimp powder?, and chili powder, I guess? When dissolved into the soup, each umami gets stronger (it feels like the overall flavor gets richer). And then there's the chashu. It's simmered pork, but there are big chunks rolling around in there, very satisfying. All in all, I can't believe ramen of this level and content is 800 yen. It was delicious.
View on GoogleSometimes there's a line, but it's still worth eating here. The fish spicy miso is delicious too, but personally I recommend the tomato ramen, which is insanely good. The balance of acidity and richness is great, an addictive flavor that makes me want to go again. I always order the chashu roll too, and it's reliably delicious as well. Getting change back from 1000 yen for this quality is pretty cheap these days, I think.
