We had very nice time! Dishes are well prepared and served one after the other. We really enjoyed the octopus rice with sonsho pepper and the fried spring rolls. We also enjoyed discussing with the chef after the dinner.
View on GoogleThe spring rolls are exceptionally delicious. The large rolls were packed with vegetables. In typical spring rolls, I think the filling is mixed with a thick sauce, but here the vegetable umami enclosed in the wrapper was very gentle and deeply flavorful. Although spring rolls are fried, I thought of this as a steamed dish. The dishes offered seem to vary by day of the week. When I visited, there were mantou sandwiches. It was disappointing that the mantou was cold and lacked a fluffy texture, and although I could clearly tell the filling was carefully prepared, I didn't think it paired particularly well with the mantou. I'm interested in the other dishes too, so I'd like to visit again if the timing works.
View on GoogleIt was my first time having takomeshi, and it was amazingly delicious. I ordered spring rolls as an extra. The colors were beautiful and the texture satisfying, fulfilling all five senses. I want to keep doing my best with another visit as motivation^_^ The kitchen was also beautifully arranged and enjoyable to watch. The staff's smiles and very courteous service made me happy. Watching them cook with care is another highlight.
View on GoogleI had the lunchtime “set.” Each dish is carefully made and served warm. As someone who likes lightly seasoned food, the seasoning was just right, neither too strong nor too weak. It's behind the Hokkaido University Botanical Gardens, along Ishiyama-dori. All the staff are friendly and it's a comfortable space. It's the kind of place where you find yourself smiling after finishing your meal.
View on GoogleSet menus are the main offering, but individual dishes can also be ordered. In the evening, one drink order is required. The takomeshi, soup, side dishes, and so on have gentle flavors and are delicious. That day's set menu centered on fried food and meat and honestly felt a little heavy. It might suit students or men. Food and drinks were served without much waiting, and it's impressive that they run the small place single-handedly. However, they're constantly chatting with regulars at the counter, making it hard to call out to order or pay. The chairs and tables at the table seats aren't at matching heights, which is quite hard on the lower back. The dishes are large, and unless you empty the plates one by one, the table fills up.
