This is the kind of neighborhood café you hope to find. Relaxed and welcoming, it serves delicious dishes inspired by French cuisine without the formality. Everything we tried was excellent, and the desserts were outstanding. The fish, caught by the owner just a few days earlier, was incredibly fresh and delicious. The sandwich was excellent too, but after seeing the curry and rice dishes go by, I think I’ll be ordering one of those next time—even though I’m not usually a curry fan. The potatoes were remarkable and the radish soup was as good as any bisque I’ve ever had. God bless butter and cream. The quality far exceeds the price, making it one of the best values around. Save room for dessert—they’re worth the visit on their own.
View on GoogleWent for lunch with a friend. That day it was full as soon as we sat down. I had seen in reviews that it's a restaurant where the chef cooks fish he caught himself, so I wanted to try it! However, I got distracted looking at the menu, since everything looked delicious! So today I ordered the spare rib curry. The meat, simmered until tender enough to cut with a spoon, and the rich roux hit hard and were very filling. It wasn't that spicy; I'd say medium? I think even men would be satisfied. Of course! It was very delicious. Meanwhile, glancing sideways at the plate of the person who ordered the fish meunière... it looked delicious... I thought next time I'll get the flounder meunière! The dishes were finished very beautifully, and I could tell a lot of effort went into them. When I asked the chef, he said he used to work at a hotel. I see! That explains why the food is both delicious and beautiful. A professional's work. Also, I noticed fishing lure baits here and there in the shop, so I asked further, and I heard a very fun episode: he is also quite skilled at flounder fishing, and since he could catch enough to sell, he made it the shop's signature menu item. Thank you for the meal, Chef.
View on GoogleI saw it on someone's Instagram. The meunière made with fish the owner caught in Shimamaki was plump, well seasoned, and very delicious. The nasi goreng was good too! The cakes are also homemade, and the lemon cake in particular seems like it would go well with coffee. The French toast was also the thickest I've had in a long time, soaked through and very, very delicious. I want to go again!
View on GoogleI went to Delicatessen & cafe ONU. It's a stylish, calm shop where you can eat at leisure. This time I ordered the curry; the taste was neither good nor bad, I'd say, and I think anyone could eat it easily. On the other hand, the cold soup that came with the set was very delicious, with a seasonal feel that left an impression. It doesn't have a particularly strong personality, but it's just right for dropping in casually for a light meal.
View on GoogleI visited on Saturday at lunchtime. Luckily the parking lot had space! I had the cod meunière and mushroom pasta. Pumpkin soup. Everything was delicious. Thank you for the meal. Next time I'd like to order the hors d'oeuvres.
