カリー チャールスCurry Charles Main Branch (Sapporo curry restaurant)
European-style curry specialty shop Curry Charles. A rich, black beef curry like that of a luxury hotel. Deliberately mild in spiciness, the umami of beef and aromatic vegetables is locked into the base soup, finished with demi-glace sauce and fond de veau. Only Hokkaido-produced beef is used, finely shredded and used generously in the roux. The sauce is characterized by the generous use of two kinds of prepared onions to extract sweetness. Within the sweetness we added the acidity of tomato and a hidden bitterness. Please enjoy our proud European curry, made with a commitment to Hokkaido ingredients.

Came here 3:30pm on a weekday and not busy at all. Serve only curry beef / rice and omelette beef curry. Delicious but not the typical spicy curry dish . Curry flavour is strong enough for Asian tastebuds. Beef is cooked well and tender. Good and friendly service. Soft music gives a chill and relax feeling. Can come again!
View on GoogleThe food was fantastic - rich but subtle, hearty, and comforting. The beef in the curry is tender, the potatoes are firm and flavorful, and the beef broth soup was a perfect appetizer. Service was just as fantastic - friendly, charming, welcoming, and accommodating to English speakers. If you are in Sapporo, this is a definite visit and I can't wait to go back!
View on GoogleCurry Charles is a hidden gem in Sapporo, well worth the trip despite its out-of-the-way location. They serve only one type of curry—beef—but offer different cuts of meat and rice portion sizes to suit your preference. The curry is beautifully presented in a gravy boat, with more meat than you’d typically get at a Japanese curry restaurant. The sauce is thick, creamy, and full of flavor. The atmosphere is quiet and cozy, with nice old music playing in the background, creating a relaxed dining experience. There’s also a small bar with a good selection of drinks. If you’re a fan of Japanese curry, this place is definitely worth a visit!
View on GoogleVisited on December 29th, around 15:00. It was near my hotel, so a perfect spot to have a late lunch after arriving in Sapporo. The restaurant atmosphere was very cosy, the music was not too loud and it was very pleasant to spend time there. The curry was delicious and with the right balance of spices, the perfect meal to warm up your body during winter. I will definitely go back if I visit Sapporo again.
View on GoogleA delightful cozy gem on a winter's day! I was in town for the Snow Festival and after a few hours of wondering outside, I really wanted something cozy. I happened upon this place via a Google maps search (the ever popular "food near me now" search). What a delight! I was offered 300 yen off my bill for a review (which is barely $2 USD so being transparent) but honestly I would have dropped a review regardless. It's a small little place in a brick building, a few blocks from the big park. Hokkaido is famous anyway for its agriculture products and curry. This place did NOT disappoint. It's mainly beef curry, special beef curry etc. delightful! It's tangy and flavorful but not overly spicy. The meat is fall apart tender. Washing it down with a Sapporo classic. A great way to warm up after a day wandering around the snow.
