Waitress was nice. Mabo tofu was in huge portion and spicy. The taste was average. The parking was tricky.

First, people who aren't confident in their legs and lower back, and those with children, should avoid this place. There are booth seats, but they strongly encourage the raised floor seating, so that's the first hurdle. Next, there's the one-dish-per-person requirement, so it isn't suitable for people with children or small appetites. Also, people expecting Japan's distinctive attentive service should avoid it. The restaurant has no tissues or condiments, and even requests for small plates to share dishes among a group are refused (because they prioritize cost performance). Still, I recommend it to anyone wanting hearty zangi or spicy mapo tofu. P.S. When I visited the day before yesterday, the voice chime announcing arrivals kept sounding, perhaps because it was broken.

2021/10/31 Large mapo tofu set 900円 and large chicken karaage set 1000円 The mapo tofu has carefully crafted, authentic seasoning without compromises for Japanese tastes; they aren't trying to please everyone, so be warned… The most popular dish, karaage, is outstanding! The flavor penetrates right through, and the coating is thin and crispy♪ It's hard to choose between this and my beloved South Villa. I confidently recommend it. Being a Chinese-run restaurant, their strong determination to never let an infection originate from their establishment comes through intensely. I understand the feeling, but… they suddenly approached chatting customers and loudly reprimanded them as if they'd scored a great victory. The whole restaurant could hear, so it was extremely effective on other customers too, but… the family of 4 who were scolded were so embarrassed that their table felt like a wake until they finished eating. There are different ways to tell people off…

I came during my lunch break from work. There were 5 of us, and 3 ordered chashu fried rice. Everything other than the chashu fried rice came quickly, but the chashu fried rice never seemed to arrive. Dishes kept being brought to customers who arrived after us, and two later-arriving groups finished paying before our food arrived. Then when the food finally came, there was so little sign of any chashu that you couldn't call it chashu fried rice. Some variation in the order dishes arrive is unavoidable, but I never expected later customers to finish paying first. I will never go again

It's a neighborhood Chinese restaurant*Parking seems to be in front of or beside the restaurant. The interior is thoroughly cleaned, with none of the greasy stickiness so common in Chinese restaurants. We ordered the signature karaage set and the popular mapo tofu set. The karaage set descended upon us! The visual is insane. A karaage tower. A mountain of fist-sized karaage! There were 8 pieces. Have I seen this look before? That's right, Meishu Hanten, the famous karaage restaurant in Nishi-ku. Apparently the owner of Junwaen is the younger brother of its owner. That explains it! Crispy, juicy karaage, way too delicious! But the quantity… don't worry, though. A staff member kindly asked, “Would you like a bag to take some home?”*The mapo tofu set arrived too: bright red mapo, quite spicy! But delicious! Can't stop! Can't stop the spoon! The rice keeps disappearing! Finished it in no time*By the way, the little dishes of zha cai and almond tofu were also very tasty* Thank you for the meal*
