The storefront doesn't look like a ramen shop, so I walked past it once. I went in, bought a meal ticket, wrote my name, and waited a while on a bench at the back. Eventually I was guided to the counter. I ordered the shop's signature chashu wonton soba. This too is not like typical Sapporo ramen; it's a ramen where the aroma of niboshi and soda-bushi comes to the fore. The noodles are thin, low-hydration straight noodles, and the soup is a clear, strong soy-sauce color. There is salt too, of course. Three wontons as big as boiled gyoza on top for 950 yen is a bargain by Sapporo standards. The sight of the (probably) three family members running the place is very nice.

I had seen it introduced on TV and came for the first time. I arrived around 11:30. The single parking space beside the shop was miraculously free, so I parked and went in. It was already full, with 5 to 6 people waiting. First I bought a meal ticket and chose the chashu meat wonton soba, which seemed to be the recommended one. After a little over 10 minutes I was guided to a counter seat. At nearly 60, it was my first time eating wonton noodles when dining out, but the wonton filling was meaty and very delicious, and with both belly and loin chashu it was quite voluminous!! I was full. There were many young male customers, and many had paired it with a chashu rice bowl. It was wonton noodles that made me want to eat it again ♪

I went to Chuka Soba California in Kikusui, Sapporo. This time I ordered the chuka soba. The soup is characterized by the fragrance of soy sauce, with a calm deliciousness typical of classic chuka soba. I was glad it was served piping hot, and it was a bowl that satisfies from the very first bite. The wonton is delicious too, with a good meaty feel. It goes well with the soup and raises overall satisfaction. Classic-style chuka soba that has a modern feel yet somehow nostalgic. Recommended when you want delicious chuka soba around Kikusui. Thank you for the meal.
