You know how in video games, there are save points that heal you? Cave Store would be one of those places. This was one of my favourite places to visit in Sapporo, it is a truly unique space with thoughtfulness weaved into every detail. 🫶 It's quiet (affectionate). You're given space to be alone, but it's not a lonely kind of alone. The staff are extremely kind. There is consideration in the enviroment (wooden utensils not only add to the vibes but they allow you to eat quietly. Carpet for your station so that your chair doesnt scrape loudly against the floor.) You are not forced to look at other people but rather have your own quiet space to exist in for 1.5 hours. It's the perfect place to read and relax without a screen for a bit. The food and coffee are simple but comforting. I had the toast and really enjoyed it. Highly recommend this place!! Also, very important, it is meant for solitary visits, so don't come here as a group!

It is a unique space! The name of this little cozy cafe is “Reading Room” in Japanese, which I think it only describes what this place is about partially. I would call it the “Reading Room in Another Dimension”. It has a little “library” area and a bar / high seating area. Lighting is warm and the set up provides high level of privacy. Other than the light soft music in the background from its amazing Yamaha speakers and the “tik tok” sound from the old pendulum clock on the wall, it is absolutely silence. The owners are around but you can merely feel they are. It feels like you are in another dimension and is perfect for reading, thinking, meditation, or simply enjoying a moment of solitude. The food is decent and the coffee is excellent! I regret I had not asked the owner if I could buy some beans from him. Very high quality dark roast coffee is served. It is a gem in Sapporo.

Artsy coffee shop around Sapporo JR station and Hokkaido University. Located in a basement floor, the place is beautifully decorated and perfect for chilling and enjoy a conversation. Delicious food and prime quality coffee. Affordable lunch menus and a nice wood deck outside to enjoy beautiful views in spring and summer.

My favourite cafe in Sapporo. Cosy place with a friendly couple, delicious dishes, excellent music, great coffee and outdoor table in summertime. Let yourself lost in an other world.
