We booked the room through Agoda. I am writing to express my profound disappointment regarding my recent 5-night stay at your hotel during the Christmas period. I am over 60 years old and have traveled extensively, but I can sincerely say this was the worst hotel experience of my life. 1. Unprofessional and Cold Service Upon arrival, my group of four (with two laptops and an iPad) politely asked the staff if our luggage could be placed in a more secure or stable area to avoid being dropped, as the devices contained important data. The staff member, whose name was "x 築 " , immediately showed us the hotel policy stating that the hotel is not responsible for losses. When we tried to explain in English that we only requested careful handling, she repeatedly said "No" and forced us to sign a waiver. Throughout the interaction, she maintained a "fake polite" smile but completely ignored us when we spoke English, turning away to serve other guests three separate times while we were still speaking. This level of arrogance and dismissiveness is unacceptable in the service industry. 2. Poor Room Condition (The "Worksite" Environment) We booked two double rooms. One of the rooms had an unbearable, suffocating smell of cigarette smoke. When I requested a room change, the same staff member simply kept saying "No way/Impossible" without offering any solution. It wasn't until I became visibly upset that an English-speaking colleague intervened. Even then, we were told no rooms were available and were forced to stay in a room that looked like a "temporary construction worksite" (please see attached photos). Spending five days in such a cramped and unpleasant environment was a miserable experience. 3. Bizarre Housekeeping and Amenity Policies The hotel’s logic regarding basic amenities is baffling. Complimentary bottled water was provided only on the first day; for the remaining four days, we were expected to buy our own. Furthermore, the cleaning policy is highly inconvenient. If the "Clean My Room" sign is not posted by 9:00 AM, the staff simply hangs two bags of towels on the door handle and refuses to clean. Coming back at night to see bags of laundry hanging from many doors in the hallway makes the hotel look like a low-end dormitory rather than a professional hospitality establishment.

The APA Hotel Sapporo is a cheaper no frills hotel in a great location to walk to the Snow Sculptures (February), Ice Sculptures, fish market (get there in the morning before midday at least), the under cover Tanukikoji Shopping Street (which we frequented many times on our stay for meals, snacks and general activity) and is generally slap bang in the middle of everything. We would stay there again as is located close to so many activities.||||There are a number of APA Hotels in Sapporo so be aware of which one you are going to. The APA Hotel Sapporo that we stayed at is located 7 Chrome-10-1 Minami 2 Jonishi, Chuo Ward. Basically on South S2 and between West W7/W8.||||The hotel is no frills but perfectly adequate. Outside of the Snow Festival the prices are a lot cheaper but of course prices go up during the main festival season in February for about two weeks. The room was a bit noisy as you can hear other people but not too much to be a bother. Quite a lot of luggage space considering and plenty of room to store your bags. There is a restaurant downstairs and a massage place as well for those sore legs and feet (you will most likely have to ring them to come in). Reception is at ground level off the street. There is an old small lift that takes you to your level with access via your hotel card (you can easily use the stairs on the way down if you are the lower levels). ||||To get to this hotel is not easy as is a fair way (~25 minutes walk but allow longer for the first time when you don't know where you are going) from the Sapporo Train Station. You can walk underground (head South) from the station almost all the way until you get to an exit somewhere near Grid S2W7/8 (the Sapporo area around the hotel uses a Grid system with S1, S2 etc crossed with W1, W2 etc). The hotel lays along the South S2 line and basically between the West W7 and W8 roads (get a map from the tourist office at the station before you try and walk or take the easy option and get a taxi). The underground walk way to get this area south of Odori Park (where the Snow Sculptures are) goes past the entrance to other train stations but is well worth exploring.

APA is very reasonably organized and well managed , providing all the necessities to travellers . I booked a bigger room and as usual it is clean and thoughtfully designed . It's a bright room with enough lights . There's a spa/onsen and I enjoyed it. I love the beddings, they made me sleep like a baby! Location is good, walking to SAPPORO TANUKIKOJI SHOPPING STREET only takes a few minutes. Everything is quite automatic and there's not much service so I didn't give it high marks.

We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel and had a lovely time. The front desk was accommodating when we had to arrive past 10pm to check-in and everything went smoothly. The room was a good size, one of the larger rooms we had during our time in Japan (we had a budget of around £40 a night). The free amenities were nice and the bed was really comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay!
