The Rumoi Seaside Museum offers an immersive journey into the fascinating history of Rumoi City, particularly its once-thriving herring industry. The museum is home to plenty of exhibits that showcase the tools, techniques, and culture of the fishing community that shaped the region’s identity. From detailed dioramas to authentic artifacts, the museum paints a vivid picture of the city's past. One of the highlights of visiting the museum is its location. Perched along the coast, it provides a breathtaking view of the Sea of Japan, especially during sunset. The golden hues reflecting off the water add a magical touch to the visit, making it an experience that is both educational and visually stunning. However, it’s worth noting that the museum is closed during winter, so plan your visit accordingly. For those traveling in other seasons, the Rumoi Seaside Museum is a must-see destination for history enthusiasts and anyone looking to connect with the city’s cultural roots while enjoying the serene beauty of its coastal setting. Entrance to the museum is free.
View on GoogleIt is a simple place next to the shore, however multiple families spend the afternoons fishing crabs and small fishes. There a couple of restaurants next to the cape, so, you can enjoy so e delicious dishes bases on sea products or just refresh yourself with some cold drinks.
View on GoogleNothing in English. But with a translation app pretty worthwhile. Great information about the history of the fishermen and Rumoi area, up from the Joumon period.
View on GoogleThis facility has exhibits about Rumoi City's history, nature, industry, and culture. You can visit for free. The exhibits are quite thoughtfully put together, and some can be enjoyed by children as well as adults. The 2nd floor and rooftop are observation areas where you can admire the magnificent scenery around Cape Ogon. A recommended facility.
View on GoogleThis museum beside Cape Ogon is really great, I love it💕 At first I was just passing by and saw the tall building And thought I would go up and take a look Then unexpectedly found a gem! Definitely a great choice for a free attraction(。・ω・。) Although it is a free attraction with no admission ticket And I did not see any staff at all when I went in The inside was actually kept super clean, and the toilets were really clean too!!!(This definitely gets a 💯) There are lots of free exhibits to look around inside You can learn about the history of the Rumoi area They display lots of ancient stones, everyday tools, old clothing, and so on Personally, I found it quite unusual and fun to look at(◡‿◡ฺ✿) Besides the exhibits, there is also an elevated observation area! Walk up and you can look straight out over the whole coastline The view is fantastic and breathtaking, and photos look great too(。•̀ᴗ-)✧ Originally I just stopped in while passing by to kill some time I did not expect the inside to be so thoughtfully put together, easily on par with paid museums It is a hidden attraction really worth stopping at to rest and look at the sea(≧ω≦) If you come to Cape Ogon I really recommend going up here for a look too🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
