Momodai Nekodai Observatory is one of the best viewpoints on Rebun Island, offering spectacular scenery along the island's rugged western coastline. The observatory is famous for providing views of two of Rebun's most iconic rock formations: the massive Momoiwa (Peach Rock) and Nekoiwa (Cat Rock). From this vantage point, visitors can clearly appreciate the unique shapes of these natural landmarks, with Nekoiwa resembling a cat sitting and gazing out toward the sea. Beyond the rock formations, the viewpoint also overlooks dramatic coastal cliffs, rolling green hills, and the vast Sea of Japan, creating a breathtaking panoramic landscape. The contrast between the rugged shoreline and the deep blue ocean makes this one of the most photogenic locations on the island. Whether you're touring Rebun by car, bus, or bicycle, Momodai Nekodai Observatory is a must-stop destination for enjoying the island's remarkable natural beauty and capturing unforgettable photos. 🌊🐱🍑⛰️
View on GoogleStunning views from this observatory. It’s good to have a local guide who can tell you all about the area and how the landslide in 2014 reshaped the mountainside. We were lucky to visit on a clear day with just a slight breeze but our guide warned it can get very windy.

On clear days, visitors can enjoy sweeping vistas of the rugged cliffs, lush green hills, and the distant horizon stretching across the ocean.
