Cape Sukai is one of the most beautiful viewpoints on Rebun Island and is often considered a must-visit destination for first-time visitors. The cape is famous for its crystal-clear blue waters, which inspired its name, meaning "Clear Sea Cape." From the observation area, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of the rugged coastline, dramatic cliffs, and the stunning contrast between the emerald-green hills and the vibrant blue sea. A short walk from the parking area leads to the viewpoint, making it easily accessible for most visitors. On sunny days, the colors of the ocean become especially vivid, creating some of the most photogenic scenery on the island. The peaceful atmosphere, fresh sea breeze, and spectacular coastal landscape make this an ideal place to slow down, take photos, and appreciate the natural beauty of Rebun Island. Overall, Cape Sukai is one of the island's signature landmarks and a highlight of any trip to Rebun.
View on GoogleMy family and I visited Cape Sukai on September 15, 2024, during our Rebun Island Getaway Tour. It was the first stop on our tour, and it immediately became one of the highlights of our visit to Rebun Island. We were fortunate to have clear skies and calm weather, allowing us to fully appreciate the breathtaking scenery. Cape Sukai is famous for its crystal-clear turquoise waters, often called "Rebun Blue." From the viewing platform, we enjoyed panoramic views of the rugged coastline, dramatic cliffs, and the vast Sea of Japan. The contrast between the deep blue sea, the rocky shoreline, and the surrounding greenery created a picture-perfect landscape. On a sunny day, the water is so clear that it almost looks tropical despite being in northern Hokkaido. The viewing area is well-maintained and easily accessible, with a short walk from the parking area. There are information boards that explain the history and geography of the cape, making the visit both scenic and educational. It is an excellent place for photography, sightseeing, or simply taking a moment to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and the refreshing sea breeze.
View on GoogleOn 19 Sept 2025, my wife and I joined a scheduled afternoon tour and here was the first stop. To see the stunning natural sights, we walked for a few minutes. Toilets are available and the group stayed for about half an hour.

View on GoogleThis is an easy to reach cape without much effort and it comes with a beautiful view on the lower observation deck. The upper deck has a wide vista of the surrounding areas.
