My most memorable sushi experience in all of Japan. We had a really enjoyable dining experience with the owner and patrons. So much so, that we returned for every night we stayed in Otaru. It was a phenomenal tour of sushi, and we are planning a return this year! Oishii!
View on GoogleCame here randomly and had some of the best sushi in Japan!! Very good prices too. Owned by a friendly couple. Chef looks a little scary but is very friendly when he smiles!
View on GoogleWe come back to this place. Some renovations were done since the last visit. Sushi is as good as we had before. Small place with best sushi taste and service. The sushi master serve best sushi in the town.
View on GoogleA very awkward and disappointing experience. The sushi was average at best and the atmosphere was extremely unfriendly. The chef looked super angry the entire time and never once asked if we enjoyed the food, even though we ordered the most expensive sushi platter on the menu (one each) and sitting at the bar right in front of him. The waiter carelessly tossed items and did not bother filling our glasses either water or sake. We felt unwelcome from the moment we arrived until we left. No one even said goodbye as we exited. If running a restaurant brings you so little joy, maybe it is time to reconsider. Or perhaps the issue is simply you dont like foreigners? A really strange vibe. I sincerely hope others do not have to go through what we did. If the service had not been so uncomfortably awkward, the quality/price ratio would still be quite bad, I would have rated it 3 stars maximum. 50,000 yen platters, average taste, with too much wasabi in many sushi.
View on GoogleIt seemed like the cook and the waitress didn’t like to serve foreigners. We had to wait a really long time before we could order food and drinks and Japanese guests who arrived after us were served before us and the waitress brought them their drinks before she even took our order. The sushi was not really worth it either. There was so much wasabi on the sushi that it was very difficult to taste the fish. The sea urchin tasted very fishy and the crab seemed very dry and not fresh. Overall we felt very unwelcomed.
