Nice for authentic Soba

The soba was delicious. It's run by an elderly couple. They prepare each customer's food individually, so serving takes time.

Run by an elderly couple. I'd been curious for years and finally visited. Since it was my first time, I had “mori,” though I still felt tempted by the recommended kamo seiro.😅 Cooked to a nice level of firmness that I like. The dipping broth is good too~just my opinion, of course. I think they close during winter. Next time, when it gets a little cooler, I'll go for kamo seiro. I think the parking area on the sea side of the shop fits about 6 cars.

Stopped by on the way home after seeing the peony festival in 小樽! I'd been curious about this place for a while! The more I chewed the soba, the more its buckwheat flavor came through—delicious! The dipping broth was underwhelming (sob). Personally, I might have liked to try it with salt?

『そば小屋』 Operating in a renovated, very old building near a railway crossing, about a 3-minute walk from JR銭函駅. The building is large, but the restaurant is a tiny handmade soba shop with just 9 seats. [Please note: closed during winter!] The regular menu is small, but that day they had “large shrimp tempura,” which I paired with “large mori soba.” ・ When served, the soba formed a generous mound on a round seiro, and there was plenty of tempura: shrimp2・maitake2・green pepper・eggplant2. The neatly uniform, thin noodles had sharply defined edges and were cooked to the chewy firmness I like. Yes, yes, the kaeshi was good too—super delicious. I chatted briefly with the elderly owner upon entering. He was very friendly and told me, “We use carefully selected stone-ground buckwheat flour from a milling company in 札幌, made into an eight-to-two buckwheat-to-wheat blend.” ・ The large shrimp tempura had a springy texture that anyone would love. And getting two was a delight. There was more soba than other shops' large servings, but it was so delicious that I finished it without losing interest. I've decided to return, so next time I'll aim for the “kamo seiro” available only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
