Came here for lunch about 3 weeks ago. On asking about fresh crab, was brought to another shop further down the street. They seem to be related and payment is all through the restaurant. Chose a crab and asked for it to be done part sashimi and part grilled. Sashimi crab was quite bland, the grilled one was better.
View on GoogleDont know about all the recent bad reviews, not sure it is what they ordered. But am writing about my own experience. Crab: Bought Live 1.3kg at about JPY15,000 Sweet and full of meat. Tuna and Uni Bowl: Best Uni I ever tried, so overwhelmingly sweet with a hint of brinyness. Price: About the same as the market nearby. Came at about 2pm, not crowded, served fast and had a great experience.
View on GoogleThis shop, run by the same owner as Kita no Ryoba, also offers a variety of Hokkaido seafood and local dishes. The sea urchin rice bowl is served generously, though the uni can still have membranes and feel a little frozen in texture. Skewers like lamb and beef are okay but quite average. On the other hand, the grilled fish here is flavorful and satisfying, and the unagi don with its sweet, rich sauce is a highlight. The staff are helpful and friendly, with a bit of communicative English, which makes the dining experience smoother for visitors. A nice spot along Otaru Canal to enjoy Hokkaido specialties, though quality can vary by dish.
View on GoogleA seafood restaurant in Sakaimachi street, Otaru. Fresh ingredients, various of menu, and foriegner welcome. The food was delicious. Fast service. Alcohol beverages was available. But the price was too expensive. Credit card was acceptable.
View on GoogleProbably half of the restaurants around 2pm were closing/closed and saw this restaurant with few customers inside so decided to try it out. Unagi was quite springy and thick delicious with warm rice and sauce on a cold day. Kaisen omakase don provides 10 type of raw seafood tasted fresh and sweet. Also tried the fish scraps soup which consist of fish parts with flesh and bones boiled in miso soup base. Generally tasted good despite pricing higher probably also targeting to tourist.
