We came to HiKime for lunch and chose the set menu. We were seated at the bar, which turned out to be a great choice—it gave us a perfect view of the sushi chef at work, as well as a glimpse into the rest of the kitchen. Watching the chef prepare the sushi was a highlight in itself. He worked with such calm precision, yet moved skillfully and efficiently. It was fascinating to see how years of experience translate into effortless movements and beautiful presentation. The sushi was fresh and delicious, and the accompanying dishes were all flavorful and well-balanced. The quality and attention to detail really stood out. Service can be on the slower side, as the chef prepares everything himself—but it’s absolutely worth the wait. That said, if you're visiting as part of a tour or are on a tight schedule, it's worth keeping your timing in mind. Everyone we interacted with was kind and welcoming, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I’d definitely come back again—both for the food and for the peaceful, engaging atmosphere.
View on GoogleBest sushi we have had in our entire lives, the service was incredible and watching the owner/chef create the sushi in front of you is a bonus. The entire experience was amazing. We went early at 530 and walked right in.
View on GoogleGood sushi shop with counter seats that allow you to see the itamae prepare each dish. It is primarily him preparing the food, so service may be slow if you go during busy hours. The uni was delicious, and my kaisendon was well presented. Cash only, reasonable prices for the offering.
View on GoogleMost of the seafood were fresh, quality is ok, cut can be better. I wasn’t a fan of the rice and wasabi tasted like paste kind. Otherwise chef is friendly. This is a luxury food and costly for the quality.
View on GoogleI had assorted nigiri set with extra tuna and makeral nigiri. As the pictures show, the quality was exceptional! The chief would serve you nigiri piece by piece or in one plate. It's up to you. I believe the quality of sushi in this Otaru area is very high. You could just go in any sushi restaurants that are not too busy. It will make your day.
