The food was tasty and prepared quickly. The atmosphere is cool, kind of a "20-30 years ago" vibe that I really like. The ladies working there are always nice. I came last year and today came again because I remembered it was good!

2026.7 At this time of year, heading to Okushiri by ferry gets you there right at lunchtime. That said, few places are open for lunch, so you might end up a lunch refugee. "Matsuya", although in Okushiri surrounded by the sea, mainly serves eatery menu items like ramen and curry, and seems to also offer uni-don during sea urchin season. This day I ordered the katsu curry. Actually I had visited before, but the curry was sold out so I had ramen, so today was my revenge. The curry isn't spicy but salty. What is it? A saltiness as if the curry were made with ramen soup. It's a strangely curious flavor. The shio ramen I had before was also orthodox. The chashu was dry pork, though~ It's a shop where I'd agonize over what to order next time.

Since it's located like the island's Ginza, I assumed it would be crowded at lunchtime, but when I went there was only one person. However, they seem to do deliveries nearby, since they went out twice carrying ramen on a tray, so it must be popular after all. I suppose the arrangement is something like nearby elderly people having lunch saying, "I want shio ramen, let's call," but the difference from dining in is that in the shop you can order sets with fried rice. That said, they don't eat that much so they probably don't mind. The taste is light, and the chashu is a little firm. Thank you for the meal.

First time landing on Okushiri Island I visited "Matsuya", recommended by the car rental shop I ordered the ramen set for 1,100 yen (tax included, cash). It consisted of 1 portion of ramen (I chose shio), 1 portion of fried rice, simmered fuki, and octopus sashimi. I wondered if I could finish it all... Worth more than 1,100 yen, I enjoyed the main shio ramen and the fried rice. Thank you for the meal. Also, at lunchtime, I think it's unavoidable that serving takes time.
