Coffee shop

★ 4.1196 reviews

A shop for house-roasted coffee, Japanese-style sweets, and lunch. The coffee is mainly 5 blends, plus Kenya, Mandheling, Yirgacheffe, Costa Rica, Guatemala and others as standards. Cold brew coffee is a popular item regardless of the season. The café latte is made with plenty of rich Yotsuba special-selection milk. We make it so that the sweetness lingers afterward. Lunch is from 11 to 14. As for Japanese-style sweets, zenzai and anmitsu made with sweet bean paste cooked in the shop from Tokachi azuki are popular. As we run with a small staff, especially on weekdays there may be a bit of a wait, so please come with time to spare.

Crannies beyond cosy, coffee brewed splendidly, and Japanese sweets served ever so cordially, together encapsulated inside the woody cocoon of a cafe that is Rutsubo. Blending in unassumingly in southerly Obihiro, I find it to be one of the city's finest establishments of its kind.

I went because someone recommended that the coffee ☕ is good. It was 30 minutes before closing on a Sunday, and they said drinks only would be fine, so I was able to have some! Since it was almost closing time, the interior was dim and there were no other customers, so I could enjoy the coffee while savoring the retro feel and atmosphere alone. I drank the blend called Ezorisu no Mori, a delicious coffee with moderate acidity and a clearly present sweetness! I like bitterness, so I'd like to try the other blends too. Next time I want to go earlier and have dessert as well! Addendum: 2026/04/11 I also had Rutsubo and Nochiu Italian ☕ Rutsubo was well-balanced, while Nochiu had strong bitterness and richness, and I loved the taste 😆 The first time it was quiet, but the second time there were many customers and it was bustling!

If you're looking for a café for the evening hours, this is just the place: it works for dinner too and has a great atmosphere! It was a café known for its lunchtime information, but I heard they also serve dinner, so I went. The shop itself has the drawback of a small parking lot with few spaces, but its tile roof and old Japanese house feel is very nice. Inside, centered on a wood-based counter, there are raised tatami seats and table seats; it's slightly dim, but the lighting is warm-toned, so it felt very calm. The BGM is pleasant, and even if you come when it's bright, the calm atmosphere seems like it would make the drinks taste better. Besides items like the Japanese-style loco moco bowl with bacon and eggs, baked pasta with Hokkaido sausage, and a Japanese-style hamburger steak plate, there is a chef's choice evening meal (gozen), and with a set add-on you can choose from three kinds: shiratama zenzai, coffee jelly, and affogato, plus a drink of your choice. Every dish was truly delicious, and I almost forgot it was a café. And above all, the coffee was superb! What I had was the original blend 'Rutsubo'; it has little acidity and is easy to drink, with hardly any perceptible bitterness, yet the aroma and taste are deep. It's a cup that coffee lovers absolutely must try! Because it was evening, there were few staff, but a male staff member with a refreshing smile welcomed us and came to take our order with a calm manner, which gave me the feeling of what I had vaguely imagined a 'café' to be! It's a bit far from central Obihiro, but I recommend it to coffee lovers, people who want to indulge in Japanese desserts, and people who want to relax in a café with a nice atmosphere!

Nagomi Gozen, shiratama zenzai with salted kinako, Rutsubo blend I was sure it was a popular, crowded café, so I went in right after opening. After that customers kept coming in, and there were also many take-out customers, which surprised me. Since it was my first time, I ordered the standards. As the photo shows, it's colorful and has a wide variety; the amount is small for a middle-aged guy like me, but the seasoning is gentle and each item was delicious. The rice and soup were delicious too, and I ate carefully. It made me look forward to the side dishes next time. And the coffee I'd been expecting was also a hit, delicious, and the sweets were delicious too. The other kinds surely look delicious too. Even though it was crowded, I could relax inside, and the staff made a very good impression.

The slightly dim atmosphere is calming and fantastic!! And the vessels for the food and drinks were stylish and way too cute!! I ordered a dark-roast blend coffee and the evening-only set meal?, and both were delicious, and the dessert zenzai also uses Tokachi azuki, which moved me. There's a huge variety of coffee from various origins, and you can choose the brewing from light to dark roast. I highly recommend it 🙇
