Nayoroshi Kitaguni Museum is a fantastic place to explore the rich history of Nayoro City. Located in front of a beautifully restored steam locomotive (SL), the museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the city’s past. As you step inside, you’ll be greeted by a wealth of exhibits showcasing various aspects of Nayoro's history, from its early days to its development over the years. The museum does an excellent job of preserving and presenting the local heritage, with displays covering everything from the city's role in the region’s development to its cultural and social history. The presence of the steam train locomotive outside adds a unique touch, offering a historical connection to the transportation that once played a significant role in the area. For history enthusiasts and those looking to learn more about Nayoro City, this museum is definitely worth a visit. View on GoogleThe permanent exhibition gives you a broad understanding of the geography, culture, and natural environment. The special exhibitions cover various themes over periods of about one to two months, letting you learn obscure old stories from the city and more. The special exhibitions are also free to view. Free, I tell you, free. They ought to charge for them. There are also live exhibits of familiar small animals such as snakes and insects, as well as a wild bird observation space, giving it the feel of a small multipurpose facility.
