Delicious food at a great price, friendly helpful staff! Hope to come again soon :)
View on GoogleYou can have delicious okonomiyaki and monjayaki. The owner teaches you how to make monjayaki. There are also lots of other teppanyaki dishes, such as hamburger steaks and thick-cut bacon. Inside, there are both tables and a raised seating area, so bringing small children is fine. It's old, with a traditional atmosphere, and you can visit without feeling self-conscious.
View on GoogleThere are tables and raised seating areas, and the interior is spacious, but there are no private rooms. Besides a wide variety of okonomiyaki and monjayaki, they also have teppanyaki dishes such as steak.
View on GoogleThe owner, who supports ファイターズ fans, was running the place alone. Apparently there are discounts or something if you show your membership card. He looked busy watching other customers' cooking, so I told him I could do everything myself and let him focus on the others. I lived in 東京's old downtown neighborhoods for a long time and often had okonomiyaki and monjayaki parties in 浅草 and 月島, so I actually prefer cooking it myself: I can get it cooked just how I like it, and it's fun. It feels a little pricey, but okonomiyaki and monjayaki in 東京 cost about this much, or more. Maybe it's because the gas needed to keep the griddle hot costs quite a bit? Unlike at home, enjoying cooking as much as you like without worrying about smoke and such is perhaps part of the fun?
View on GoogleWhen I called to make a reservation, perhaps the call had been forwarded to the owner's family, because an older woman answered who couldn't understand a thing I was saying. I wanted to make a reservation, but we got absolutely nowhere, and eventually she said, “I'm not from the restaurant, so I don't know.” Come on, seriously? I'm calling the restaurant's main number. It's unclear whether they're even on the same page about the forwarding, and even if they know it's being forwarded, there must be a better way to handle it. She was completely silent when she first answered. I asked, “Is this もん吉?” and she said, “Yes.” If you say “Yes,” then handle the call properly, forwarded or not. You could say, “The restaurant staff are away right now, so calls are being forwarded. Please call again later.” Are you taking me for a fool? Wouldn't someone who didn't realize the call was forwarded feel even worse? I've seriously lost all desire to go. This is the first time calling to make a reservation has made me feel this awful.
