On the way back from seeing the rapeseed fields in Abira with my girlfriend, I wanted to have tea in Naganuma, so we stopped to order at this cafe in the woods. It probably doubles as a home, and the interior felt a little lived-in, but we could relax quite nicely.

This area is known for Umaoi's famous spring water and extensive cultivation of rice varieties such as “Yumepirika” and “Nanatsuboshi.” It's midway between Sapporo and Chitose. This shop is in a remote location inaccessible without a car. Visited without a reservation around 11 on a weekday. The interior looked like a remodeled house, with a calm, classical atmosphere. It's run by a married couple. Firewood is arranged inside to provide warmth. It feels like visiting your grandmother's house. ◆Rare cheesecake set The homemade rare cheesecake has a generous cheese layer that's moist and smooth. The sponge is soft and fluffy. They were preparing the sponge right in front of me. They quietly use Yves Saint Laurent cups. It's good for a short break or experiencing a cafe rooted in a local Hokkaido community. The worst shop. Nobody was there when we entered; after a while an elderly woman came out, but her attitude was basically “What do you want?” We sat down anyway, but got no introduction to the menu. Today's sweets were written up, so we ordered for 2 people. Even though it was just a cake set, it took ages to arrive. But the homemade cake was pretty good. Otherwise, the shop felt like grandma's house; I wish the atmosphere were a little better.

The atmosphere was calm and I really enjoyed the delicious food I'd definitely like to go again
