10 skewers of Muroran yakitori 2 liver skewers 2 colas 2 plastic bottles of CGC oolong tea 4 plates of pickled cucumber Total: 4400 yen. Honestly, I was shocked, sob. That works out to 2400 yen for the skewers and 2000 yen for everything else. The onion at the ends of the yakitori wasn't cooked through. The meat was okay, but the pieces were small. The cola and oolong tea were served in their cans or plastic bottles, and we poured them into glasses ourselves. We didn't need this much pickled cucumber. The corners of the plates had turned yellow. There were little flies flying around inside too. The menu is very limited, with just a few types of skewers, grilled rice balls, and the like. Nothing besides the skewers has a price listed, which is worrying. Sorry to say, but the owner isn't friendly. The elderly lady was smiling. It feels like a place for people who want to experience the Showa-era atmosphere. If you want a clear bill (prices), you're better off not going.

A “Muroran yakitori” restaurant founded 95 years ago, with 85 years at its current location. It's run by the owner, who was either 85 or 83, and his wife. There were ashtrays on the tables, so smoking is probably allowed. Cash only. The interior was a little dim, with counter seating only. Old, but clean. The owner has the air of a slightly stubborn craftsman, but was surprisingly chatty. The elderly lady who came out just to serve the pickles as an appetizer also seemed very kind. Apparently, the previous owner originally opened in Muroran after training at a yakitori restaurant using pork in Obihiro, which made me think there may be a theory that Toriyoshi popularized pork in Muroran yakitori. He said there have been fewer people in Wanishi lately, so fewer customers come in. On the day I visited, nobody else came for about 1 hour either. Apparently, “salt” has also become more popular than “sauce” for yakitori lately. Since I rarely come to Muroran, I had it with sauce. They grill it once, dip it in sauce, grill it again, and dip it in sauce once more before serving. The pieces were a little small, but the pork and onion with sweet sauce were delicious with a little mustard. 9 skewers, bottled beer, and chilled sake cost a little over 3000 yen. The owner said something about considering retirement because he's getting older and has no successor, so I'd like to stop by if I can visit again.

A Showa-retro yakitori restaurant with 95 years of history, run by an elderly couple. The husband is quiet, but if you talk to him, he'll tell you all sorts of things. The appetizer was refreshing cucumber, and the Muroran yakitori was delicious too, so I was satisfied✨ Some prices aren't listed, so if that concerns you, I think it's best to check before ordering.

I tried Muroran yakitori for the first time! Apparently it's mainly pork and uses almost no chicken! They say the secret sauce has been continuously replenished for 94 years. The sweet sauce was extremely delicious! By the way, the grilled rice balls were also good dipped in the sauce! It's been a while since I've had such delicious yakitori!

I really realized that Muroran yakitori restaurants don't have chicken meat. The charcoal grilling was truly delicious. People with bad lungs might not be able to tolerate it. I was a little concerned that they use charcoal but the ventilation isn't good.
