View on GoogleI'm visiting Hokkaido, Japan on vacation and traveling around mainly to small towns with a single rail pass. Today I visited Muroran Station and passed by this Korean restaurant, 'Sillagwan,' but for whatever reason—I'm not sure—it seems to have been closed for quite a long time. I stood looking for a long time at the doll in front of the shop dressed in a white 'Hanbok (Korean Traditional Dress Costume),' and with the shop's door closed, I felt a little sad. Still, I think it's nice that there's a Korean restaurant on 'Central Avenue (Chuo-dori, Central Avenue, 中央通り)' by Muroran Station. It's hard to say when, but if I get the chance to come to Muroran again, I'd like to come back and enjoy some delicious Korean food. To the owner and all the staff, please hang in there—I'll be looking forward to you reopening in good spirits.
View on GoogleVisited for a weekday lunch. Looking at the text-only menu, since we don't understand Korean at all, we had no idea what any of the dishes were, so we ended up having to ask the staff… Ordered the kalbi ramen with a half yakiniku-don set, and the kalbi gukbap lunch. The kalbi ramen and kalbi gukbap seem to differ only in noodles vs. rice. The yakiniku-don is just what the name says, but the yakiniku bento has the yakiniku on a separate plate from the rice. This yakiniku-don was really delicious! I don't think I'd get tired of it even eating a large one as a main instead of the half bowl in the set. Next time, it's the yakiniku-don for sure!
View on GoogleA yakiniku restaurant I absolutely want to go to whenever I'm on a business trip to Muroran. That said, I've only been at lunchtime, so these stars are for lunch. The lunch menu is extensive, and I think everything is delicious. Of those, I think the yukgaejang ramen is especially delicious. The reason I absolutely want to go is to eat this. It's pleasantly spicy and really whets your appetite. If you ask the staff, they'll add rice for free. My personal way of eating it is to finish all the noodles first, then pour the toppings and soup over the rice to make it like yukgaejang gukbap. Highly recommended.
View on GoogleIt was so hot that I had a sudden craving for naengmyeon, so I stopped by. It was relatively empty and I was shown to a table. From the lunch menu I ordered the set of half naengmyeon and yakiniku-don. The naengmyeon I'd been looking forward to had oddly short noodles, which was a bit of a letdown. The yakiniku-don is OK as a side, I guess. Value for money is about average. Next time I'd like to try a regular-size naengmyeon.
