Simple, but it values the basics. The interior retains the scent of the Showa era. The long-to-the-back counter typical of this region, and 3 table seats. The craftsman skill in cooking the meat and shrimp is outstandingly high. The timing of pulling them out the moment the center is fully cooked is impossible for amateurs. The crispy texture from fine breadcrumbs locks in the moisture of the ingredients beautifully, and the meat, together with its preparation, is plump and tender. Safe even for people with bad teeth. The shrimp are large black tigers with the vein neatly removed, fried butterflied. Springy texture and the sweetness of the shrimp. Top-class ebi fry in Nishi-Iburi. Completely different from frozen products. 300 yen each. Try a bite first without anything on it. The surprise is that they fry it all in a pan like the ones ordinary homes use for frying fried rice. This way they can change the oil frequently, and there is no oil oxidation. No timer, no thermometer. Not a fryer. Yet the frying temperature is constant, and the fry is golden. Truly the craftsman's long years of experience and intuition. The mix is 2 each of ebi fry and fillet katsu. The miso soup contains only tofu. It comes with medium-thick sauce, mustard, and ketchup. A thick round slice of lemon. The curry is super mild, safe for children too. A simple curry of spices kneaded with flour and thinned with meat bouillon. Considering value for money, the other tonkatsu shop nearby is better. But this one-of-a-kind frying technique is a must-try too. Having no idle time is also a plus.

The katsudon and nabeyaki udon are the best. At lunchtime everyone comes to eat. The old-fashioned sweet broth combined with shiitake broth makes for the best katsudon.

A shop with delicious fried food. The calm atmosphere was nice. Besides set meals and rice bowls featuring fried items like ebi fry, tonkatsu, and fillet katsu, they also have nabeyaki udon and more. I ordered the mixed fry set. It comes with fillet katsu and ebi fry, and it's delicious.

It might have been 30 years. The shops in the neighborhood have already closed and the area is quiet. The interior feels dated but is very clean. This seems common to long-lived shops in Muroran. The owner recommended the katsudon, so I tried it. The meat was tender and a little sweet, and besides onions, shiitake mushrooms were included, which gives the flavor an accent. Of course, it was delicious. Set meals include mixed fry, fried shrimp, hire katsu, and tonkatsu, while rice bowls include katsudon, oyakodon, shrimp, etc., the classic fried dishes, plus nabeyaki udon. What shall I get next time? I'm looking forward to it.

The Showa-era atmosphere just as it was. An old-fashioned katsudon shop. Popular items are katsudon, nabeyaki udon, and katsu curry. The proprietress calculating the bill with an abacus is also the good old Showa.
