Japanese curry restaurant. Whatever you want with Japanese curry you can have here. The No.1 dish is the pork cutlet curry, there's also a fried shrimp, fried chicken and hamburger curry. When you enter the restaurant you have to buy food tickets for your meal from the machine inside the front door. The machine is in Japanese only but a translation app should take care of this. Give your ticket to a member of staff behind the counter or leave it on your table and they'll come and collect it. You can have your curry as mild or as spicy as you like, there are 10 levels of spiciness. The restaurant offers 2 food challenges, a 2kg curry meal or to eat a spice level 10 meal. The food is delicious and the staff friendly.
View on GoogleThis is the main branch of a curry shop that opened in 2014 and has 3 locations in Muroran. You can taste the spices and the sweetness of thoroughly simmered vegetables and fruit. There's so much curry sauce that some is left even with a large serving of rice, making it very satisfying. The freshly fried items are piping hot, crispy, and delicious. Another distinctive feature is that several kinds of inexpensive vegetables have been sold inside since it opened in 2014. The restaurant displays photos of people who completed challenges of over 2kg or spice levels above 10. (When I visited in December 25, the largest-portion record was 6.1kg! The spiciness record was level 61! I was surprised both were women.) You order in advance at the ticket machine, which accepts cash, various QR payments, and credit cards.
View on GoogleThis is a curry shop on the road toward Hakucho Bridge in Muroran. Judging by other people's reviews, it apparently has around 3 locations in Muroran alone. This time, I was on my way to Hakodate and happened to pass here right at lunchtime, so I visited this shop after it caught my eye. You pay in advance by buying a meal ticket at the entrance. I ordered katsu curry. It's a rich curry of the kind where the ingredients have dissolved into the sauce. The curry sauce probably has lots of meat and vegetables cooked into it. It was very delicious. The tonkatsu was also properly fried and tasty. I ordered a regular serving this time, but I think a man could easily manage a large one. They apparently also offer extra-spicy and large-portion challenges. There were lots of photos of successful challengers displayed inside. Maybe I'd have tried one too if I were still in my 20s??
View on GoogleA curry with sauce that lives up to exactly what its appearance promises. I had katsu curry; although the cutlet wasn't thick, it matched the curry well. There was plenty of both rice and curry sauce, making it a generous meal!
View on GoogleThis is the main branch of a curry shop in Muroran. There are 4 counter seats and around 7 tables. Inside are photos of people who finished 2kg–4.2kg portions or spice levels 10–55, and so on. On the 15th, katsu curry is 600円. On Wednesdays, zangi curry, and on Fridays, sausage curry, are 600円. Since it was Wednesday, I chose the day's special zangi curry. Last time I ate at the Morue branch, spice level 3 was about equivalent to medium-hot to hot packaged curry, so this time I chose the hot level 4. Then I added garlic chips for 160円. The meat inside the zangi was rather small; the curry sauce was delicious. Level 4 was definitely hotter than level 3, and perhaps because of my age, it affected my stomach a little, but I was in the mood for spicy food today, so it was the perfect heat. For young people who like spicy food, I think level 5 or above would be good. Open until 14:00.
