It is home cooked food made with love. You need patience as it will take a while as it is not instant food.
View on GoogleSo in this building it seems like there's two restaurants. I went the one on the right. It's a family restaurant in the literal sense that the family running it actually lives in the building, so don't be surprised if you see a cat appear to warm itself by the wood burning stove. I had the sukiyaki udon set and it was delicious! The sukiyaki came in a earthenware pot and it had pickles and two rice balls as sides. One rice ball was okaka (don't laugh, it's not poo but dried bonito flakes) and the other was umeboshi (pickled plum). I loved it!

View on GoogleThe atmosphere takes you back in time! A long-established drive-in with a Showa retro feel that's rare nowadays! Visit date 2025.12.22 I stopped by on my way to Hakodate for work. As expressways keep expanding and drive-ins keep declining, this place is working hard to stay open: 【Restaurant Sanyo】. It's right there after you leave the Onuma Koen interchange and join the national road. The building shows its age, and really feels like a long-established place~ The Showa retro atmosphere inside is incredible. The chairs and interior are the kind you rarely see nowadays. There's also a wood-burning stove this time of year, and something about the place feels comforting. The menu is extensive, with steaks and hamburger steaks, Japanese food, soba, and ramen— it feels like THE drive-in. I had the 【seafood ramen】. Only 800円! Good value too~ It had scallops, shrimp, squid, and other seafood, and was delicious. The broth was thick, making it a very warming ramen. I ordered spring rolls on the side, and those were delicious too~ I hope they keep working hard and stay open~ Thank you for the meal~
