Stopping by ラッキーピエロ 森町 赤井川店 (Lucky Pierrot Moricho Akaigawa) along Route 5 during our summer road trip through southern Hokkaido was an absolute blast and the ultimate comfort food stop on our drive toward Hakodate. Pulling our rental car into their spacious, easy-to-access parking lot was smooth and convenient, making it a perfect roadside oasis to take a break and refuel. Stepping inside is an experience in itself—true to Lucky Pierrot’s iconic reputation, the restaurant features whimsical, carnival-themed decor, vibrant colors, and a fun, retro atmosphere that instantly puts a smile on your face. Ordering their legendary, award-winning Chinese Chicken Burger (チャイニーズチキンバーガー) was a complete non-negotiable, and it lived up to every bit of the hype: huge, crispy chunks of fried chicken coated in a sweet and savory glaze, paired with fresh lettuce and rich mayo inside a soft, toasted sesame bun. Pair that with their famous "Lucky Fries"—served piping hot in a mug with meat sauce and cheese—and you have pure, indulgent comfort food bliss. The restaurant was lively, remarkably clean, and served by friendly staff who kept orders moving efficiently despite the restaurant's popularity. Before getting back on the road, taking a few minutes to check out their unique merchandise counter and pick up some souvenir Lucky Pierrot mug cups and local snacks made for a great final touch. If you are road-tripping along Route 5 between Hakodate and the Lake Onuma / Mori area, pulling over at this Lucky Pierrot branch is a delightfully delicious and cheerful Hokkaido driving tradition!

The only thing I liked about the over rated restaurant is the atmosphere and decorations. For me, I got the number one famous burger (Chinese chicken burger) and it was a complete miss. Firstly, when opened, the lettuces all came out hence the burger was unevenly packed. Second, compared to my parents double king burger which was steaming hot, mine was not fresh/hot at all. Third, the chicken patty was not a patty but three pieces of those konbini store style sweet fried chicken nuggets inside the burger. I could’ve easily gone to a 7-11 to buy such meat content inside. One thing I did like was the sesame studded patty which was unique and delicious - something I would’ve enjoyed more had it come out hot. Service is rated low despite the friendly looking elderly women at the counter because they don’t speak any English, and when asking for customization or inquiring more questions, they brush me off because they were busy and the line is long. As a result, you feel unvalued as a customer and you’re anxious of your order, making you wonder whether your experience dining will be complete with the food you wanted. My partner enjoyed the burger but as I am disappointed with the order experience and the burger, I can at best give this location a 3 star overall

Very good quick and easy meal for both burgers and rice dishes. we stopped by for burgers but the Katsudon was surprising good. Wish we tried the curry as well. We did have dessert though, their soft cream was great. The staff was nice and friendly and the place’s decoration is unique. Overall very good value for money meal. Worth trying for sure

The food are good. BUT, When we arrived, there were many people queueing to pay, we queued and many came behind us too. 80% are not dine in. We waited 15 mins for the queue to place order. then we sat down and write the table no. on the order paper and put in on the red plate. There were at least 30 people before us and more than 50 people behind us in 30 mins. (rush hours) We saw those customers who ordered take away, all gone, including ALL behind us. a few customers like us who picked dine in, only finished the drinks already, still waiting for the food. we only order one cheese burger and one fries and 1 can of drink. it took us 15 mins on the queue, and 40 mins to wait for the food, and seeing those who ordered the take away 100% peopls left already. then we finally can get the food one table by one table, then eat, i regret so much that decided dine in in this burger restaurant. we spent 10 mins to eat and rush on our road. what kind of policy they have that they prepare the food for ALL take away customers first? ??? Dine in customers can be waited for the food until finished ALL take away orders? why did i have to queue for the order? This is so sad. i didn’t expect this service in Japan, esp a big and popular yummy burger company.

As a foreign tourist who is in Hokkaido for the very first time, I only discovered when I was here a few days ago that this local fast food chain offering Japanised American cuisine was not only exclusive to Hokkaido, but also exclusive only to Hakodate prefecture. So as I headed out of Hakodate prefecture today, I decided that I had to try Lucky Pierrot before leaving the prefecture and ended up at this branch. And I was blown away by how good the food was at Lucky Pierrot - I had a Lucky Cheese Burger with fries), and how great the dining ambience was as well - reminding me of an American burger bar of the past. So, for those of you who are visiting Hakodate prefecture for the first time, I highly recommend this fast food chain, but be prepared for how very popular it is with the Hakodate locals.
