Informative indoor museum which includes some interactive exhibits and locomotive displays. Unfortunately the information is only in Japanese. There is also an outdoor space with many locomotives which you can climb on and take a closer look at the controls. You can take a stroll after visiting the railway museum. There were only a few people there while we were there on a June Thursday. Hope there are usually more people here as this museum is worth the price of 530 yen for an adult
View on GoogleSuper cool place for both kids and adults. There are train models and real trains demos. My kids love the animation parts and play area where you can build your own train tracks. Also there is a super cool gift shop with some old original train magazines, train schedule sheets, tickets etc..
View on GoogleBrilliant place, it is off the beaten track but worth going out your way for. The museum is pretty amazing, the best train museum we have been too as it is full of history and information about railways in early Hokkaido. There are loads of old trains to see and climb all over.
View on GoogleHokkaido doesn't have many rail museums and this is one of the more extensive ones! It has a nice collection of trains and educational rooms. It even has a plarail room with a golden plarail car shrine! It sells used plarail toys too which are mostly in good condition. At the outdoors, there's a steam train ride and a mini shinkansen rail ride. There's also a restaurant in a train car that operates between 11am to 2pm which serves usual Japanese dishes. A great place to visit if you are a rail fan. P.S. don't forget to check out the cute mini coal train across the road at the car park.
View on Googleinformative museum with many locomotives where we have a close up experience in the cockpit and engine rooms, strongly recommended
