A michi-no-eki roadside station and diner that could be one of the reasons to go to Matsumae. I recommend the local specialty maguro don and the nori dandan bento. In summer they also serve uni don. The rock-seaweed (iwanori) dandan bento is a local dish of this area that you should try at least once. The nori tastes completely different. If the rice (white rice) were tastier, it would be perfect. It's great that you can eat fresh food at reasonable prices.

I recommend the nori dandan bento~♪ I floored the rental car just to eat this. You can eat while looking out over the Tsugaru Strait and even touch the seawater, so it's a pleasant time.

Finally lunch at Michi-no-eki Kitamaebune Matsumae. Matsumae Iwanori Dandan 1600 yen Spear squid curry 1300 yen I thought, it's basically a nori bento, so pricey! But when I got a bite, the nori was fragrant and super delicious! Apparently Matsumae rock seaweed is famous and rare. Makes sense. They were selling nori too, but it was crazy expensive. The curry was just average lol . Filled up and moved on.

You can eat while looking at the sea. The style was: look at the menu in the waiting room, then when you're shown in, buy a meal ticket. After buying the ticket, go in and hand it over at the counter at the back on the left. When it's ready, your number is called and you go pick it up. You also return your tray to the counter. The food was good.

Stopped by for lunch on the way back from Matsumae Castle. Tuna is apparently famous here, so I had that. Well, it was tasty, but not anything special. The portion was small for the price, and since I usually eat Misaki tuna, it didn't beat that. A tourist lunch. The location, right in front of the sea, was great!
