My friend has been here before and was taking us there again. He wasnt too good with directions or remembering where the place was so we were walking around in circles trying to find this place. It turns out they changed the name of the place to Wagyu Steak KAKU NISEKO by Steak Rosso Rosso but google maps wasnt updated. We ordered a variety of food and 2 kids menu for his kids. There was a grilled chicken set, seared tuna set, beef with salmon roe bento box and decided to splurge on a Matsusaka wagyu beef set all to share. All set menus comes with a starter, onion soup, mains, and dessert. Everything was fine, my friend was raving about how good the onion soup was but I was deeply disappointed to know it wasnt french onion soup, but a very watered down version of it. Their menu claims they cook the steak to their recommended doneness and has an extra hot puck for you to cook your meat more if you like, not that we really need it as we enjoy medium rare steaks, but that hot puck wasnt heated to the right temperature and it was too small to do anything and cooled down very fast. The Matsusaka beef itself was good, tender, not too greasy but definitely too much if one person ate it all, good thing we shared. The chicken was meh, nothing special nothing bad, just fillet chicken thigh with some teriyaki sauce. The beef with salmon roe bento box was good, bring back some "Japanese-ness" to the menu with soy sauce and wasabi. The seared salmon was probably my favorite. Light, slight hint of tartness from the sauce and overall enjoyable. Probably because we've been eating such greasy and heavy foods throughout the trip that something light and refreshing for a change is what we needed. We finished it off with Hokkaido milk ice cream which was always nice.

This was one of the best meals we had while in Japan. Service was impeccable and everything they brought us was flavorful and delicious, and the presentation was artful. It was also a great value for Kobe Waygu. We were amazed at how tender the beef was. We would definitely come back here if we return to Hokkaido.

Exceptional Dining Experience at Steak Rosso Rosso Steak Rosso Rosso in Niseko delivered an absolutely outstanding dining experience. From the moment we walked in, the warm and stylish atmosphere made us feel comfortable and welcomed. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and attentive—nothing was too much trouble for them. Our water glasses were never empty, plates were promptly cleared, and they ensured we were happy throughout the meal. The food itself was exceptional. The meal started with a simple yet perfectly executed corn chowder and garlic bread, which beautifully set the stage for the main course. The steak was the true highlight—cooked to a perfect rare finish, yet somehow still boasting the juiciness, colour, and texture of a premium steak you’d expect to pay significantly more for elsewhere. Every bite was full of flavour, enhanced by the delicious sauce that accompanied it. The vegetables were fresh and complemented the dish without overshadowing it. Presentation was refined with a ‘less is more’ approach, allowing the quality of the ingredients to shine. To finish, the citrus lemonade sorbet was the perfect palate cleanser—light, refreshing, and restoring balance after the richness of the steak. Steak Rosso Rosso is one of Niseko’s long-standing establishments, alongside places like Bang Bang, and it’s clear why they’ve stood the test of time. Exceptional food, impeccable service, and an inviting atmosphere make this a must-visit dining spot. Highly recommend!

We booked Rosso Rosso niseko a week in advance for a friends birthday. Niseko is quite busy in winter. Booking ahead definitely recommended for anything decent. I had to give credit card details for the booking in case we didn’t turn up or cancelled. This is pretty standard these days so not overly worried. The restaurant is a little trick to find even though we were familiar with the area. Walked over a snow bank and through neighbouring properties to get to the front door. The seating times are strict, so recommend turning up on time to avoid being rushed at the end. As a group of 4 we were easily accommodated. We loosened up with a nice bottle of sake to share. This is a steak house. Very good quality steak. The menu gives a little background on the different breeds and regions the beef is from. Appetiser - smoked salmon and shrimp amuse bouche. Very fresh and tasty. Entree of bacon wrapped scallops with red wine sauce. Thought red wine sauce with seafood was an odd pairing but was a great dish. All at table agreed and lapped up the sauce. Side of garlic bread (seemed the better choice over rice). Nothing special. We all ordered the matsusaka beef fillet course. The whole table had done medium rare (recommended). So soft and velvety. The most amazing texture. !! Lacked seasoning and maybe some direct flame/high heat to finish for flavour. This was a great steak. We shared a bottle of western Australian alkoomi 2016 Shiraz. Very well paired. Dessert - yuzu sorbet. It was nice. The birthday boy was presented with special dessert. Chocolate cake, yuzu sorbet and candles. Sorry - as usual I started eating before taking pics. Hungry and food so good. Over $200 per head. Great steak but overpriced. A great night with the boys. I would come back.
