Lovely museum, with information on local history and ecology. Not all of the exhibits have English translations, which necessitates regular use of Google translate. I particularly enjoyed the recreated traditional interiors of businesses and houses.
View on GoogleAn informative & lovely local museum. The natural side of Kutchan is dealt with first & then some evocative rooms of life in the early days of Kutchan from a human perspective…..like noticing that the new bright fluorescent lighting was so bright it made people realise their homes needed repainting! There’s an art gallery on the other side of the parking area which gives you another small and enjoyable gallery to see by a well known Hokkaido artist.
View on GoogleI think this is a wonderful museum. In contrast to the Shu Ogawara Memorial Museum across the street, you can enjoy the geography, natural systems, and history and climate of the foot of Mt. Yotei in about an hour! The staff are also very kind and wonderful!
View on GoogleI had a really good time at the museum. I was the only one there. The wide variety in its collection painted a really vivid picture of Kutchan, from nature to history and everything in between. I really learnt a lot from this museum. The staff were incredibly nice too. There is also a library, and I hope to return again to read some of the exciting encyclopaedias.
View on GoogleA very very good museum to learn more about the characteristic of Kutchan’s natural environment, history and development. All presentations are easy to read and understand even I am a beginner in Japanese. Please come if you want to know more cultures in Kutchan. Admission fee is required. Only 200yen per adult.
