Delicious Soba noodles to warm up your winter night

In the past I used to rely on the soba and udon vending machine out front. I went in for the first time, and the Showa-retro feel was nice. The lady owner, said in reviews to be notoriously unfriendly, was as expected. The cold tanuki soba at 900 yen was an unexpectedly bold price, which actually raised my expectations. However, the soba was firm but had no aroma. Is the broth deliberately made without dashi, relying on soy sauce alone? It's quite busy, so there must be some secret. It was a soba shop that is hard to rate.
