Finally!! I found an actual slice of Japan on my Niseko trip. After being annoyed at the ridiculous prices for food in the resort, we ventured out into nearby Kutchan for a throwback izakakya. The yakitori were delicious, the fried chicken was enormous and the all-u-can drink beers kept flowing in large mugs. The service can be a bit slow because there is only one guy manning the kitchen and he is furiously cooking up a storm. Be patient, sit back and enjoy an ice cold beer in a homestyle izakaya. The minus one star was only because they allow smoking and I don’t like smoking. The manager is a nice guy, will chat away with you (if he has time) and the floor staff tried his best to speak English (which we didn’t actually need). Finding and supporting the locally run places should be your goal on your ski trip. Eat here instead of those corporate price gouging restaurants and bars in Hirafu.

Pay 10% extra charge if pay by credit card. I know card company charges 2-3% only. Asked me to order to write piece of paper each time but not any other table do. Chicken karaage dish was huge - I wish a guy tell me too much to order for us… A guy trying to separate huge bag of frozen yakitori at chair we can see that i wish we didn’t see it. Hmm shop was full but i think just not enough restaurants that area.. a bit disappointed.

The prices of the food were quite unreasonable especially when the quality of food were barely sub par, and they forced us to have their appetitisers and when we asked what it was the person told us it was chicken but when I tried it, it was just vegetable and it was 600 yen per portion.

1 chef and 1 server, really short handed but they manage to handled all orders. Food tatse good and not really expensive.
