Tasty small plates. We ordered a variety of dishes between four people. Food came out very quickly. Enjoyable experience tasting a variety of dishes. The fried potato balls, octopus and the meatballs were the best.
View on GoogleThe yakitori and finger food were noticeably better than the rice and main dishes. If you’re dining here, I’d strongly suggest avoiding the rice bowls and sticking to smaller items. I ordered the mayo salmon rice bowl (¥2,500), which was frankly disappointing. It came with just six thin slices of smoked salmon on top of almost unseasoned rice. For the price, it felt poor value—especially when even konbini options taste more satisfying. The chicken skin was decent and nicely grilled, but it could have been crispier. A dipping sauce would have helped bring the dish together. The fried chicken wings were halved and tasted quite plain on their own. Thankfully, the accompanying sauce added some freshness and saved the dish slightly. The baked potato was the weakest item. It was so under-seasoned and dry that I ended up taking it home to add butter and seasoning just to make it edible. The pork skewer was better executed—the meat was well grilled, and the thickness helped showcase its texture and quality. That said, the teriyaki sauce was overly thick and masked some of the natural flavour. The clear standout was the deep-fried octopus. It was lightly battered, well seasoned, crispy on the outside, and still juicy inside. This was the only item that felt properly thought through and worth ordering.

View on GoogleOur favourite Izakaya in Hirafu…not as cheap as some but the food is a cut above the others we tried, the takoyaki are the best I’ve had in Japan and that includes Osaka! The Hokkaido grilled squid and scallops grilled at your table are also a must try. It’s small and cosy and you may luck out with a spot at the bar with a walk in but best bet is to book in advance.
View on GoogleFood and price is acceptable for the area. The potato dumplings are good. Salmon belly was good. Gyoza was fine. Stick to small plates.
