Our first day in Niseko and it’s Valentine’s so I book this place online ahead of time. There are no prices online but I figure it can’t be too bad, I’m happy to pay premium for an authentic seafood experience at what looks like an upscale restaurant. Upon sitting down, I discover that a portion of snow crab goes for $150. This is a bit crazy even by NYC standards but I guess we can splurge for a special occasion. Then we ask about the broth and realize that the hot pot broth itself is also anywhere from $70 for simple vegetarian broth (!) to ~$100 for their shark tail and chicken. At this point I realize that this is going to be the most expensive bowl of soup I will have ever eaten. Yes, more expensive than what I paid for the most incredible soup in a 3-Michelin star Paul Bocouse’ restaurant in Leon, more expensive than at upscale hot pot like Haidilao (which was ironically next door and I didn’t know about it), more expensive than any soup you’ll find in NYC unless it’s topped with caviar or foie or both. Here I was, slurping on a gelatinous broth that was — don’t get me wrong, delicious — but certainly not in any way better than a $10 bowl you’d get at a Hirafu lift just 10 min away. The experience reminded me of dining at some of the top spots in Ibiza where you’d find something just as wildly-priced, except there was no vibe or service to match; we were being served by 2 aunties at a simple looking local restaurant, not the hot Spanish women in front of the stunning ocean. There was absolutely _nothing_ warranting such price except that someone was clearly willing to pay for it :) I’m giving them 2 because the food was good and the aunties were friendly. Everything else was just a bizarre experience that felt almost too comical to be real. P.S. upon looking through reviews I found way too many 1 star ones from (real-looking) users with many reviews and too many 5 star ones from users with 1-2 reviews. I’ll let you be the judge of what that means, but I do think google should be better at weeding out things like this.
View on GoogleAuthentic Hong Kong–style hotpot hits extra differently in Niseko’s cooling weather ❄️🍲 Christmas dinner with the family and honestly… best decision ever. Service was next-level amazing 🙏🏻🙏🏻the uncles and aunties were so warm, helpful, and genuinely kind, it felt like eating hotpot at a relative’s house (the kind that keeps refilling your soup and asking if you’re full every 2 minutes 😂). The soup base? Deep, comforting, soul-hugging goodness. One sip and you immediately understand why winter exists. And then came the steamed egg with hairy crab… WOW. Out. Of. This. World. Silky smooth egg + rich crab flavour = instant silence at the table. Everyone stopped talking. Serious business only. Overall: amazing food, amazing service, amazing vibes. If you’re in Niseko and the weather is cold — this hotpot is non-negotiable. Just go. You’ll thank yourself later 😌🔥
View on GoogleWe found this hotpot restaurant from xiao hongshu and what a great find in Niseko! The authentic Hong Kong Hotpot Restaurant is run by a Hong Konger couple and they serve up the best Cantonese hotpot I have ever eaten. The dim sum can only be eaten during non-winter period and is better than what you can eat in Hong Kong due to the fresh ingredients here and the egg tarts are out of this world due to them being freshly baked using Hokkaido milk. We also tried the A5 wagyu pau. It was heavenly! The couples are also super friendly and hospitable. This place is also visited by Lee Kashing and celebrities like Eason Chan. The next time you come to Niseko at Hokkaido, you have to come. Reserve to avoid disappointment.
View on GoogleThis has been our go-to place, and for good reason! My baby love their siumai 🥰 The food is consistently delicious, offering great value for money. From the moment you walk in, the staff all the way to the chef are incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Their service is always warm and attentive. Highly recommended for anyone looking for amazing food and top-notch hospitality!
View on GoogleThis hot pot place is such a vibe!!! The food is srsly good. The meat are fresh and nicely sliced, the veggies crisp, and the broths are rich and flavourful without feeling too heavy 😭 I love that you can mix your own sauces and I could see it w my own eyes that it was made on the spot. Staff are friendly, quick to help, and they keep checking in without being annoying :) tysmmmmm
