The chef/master was incredibly kind to first-time visitors like us. Although we were initially concerned about the lack of prices listed on the menu, the experience was well worth it, especially the recommended dishes. The otoshi (starter dish) was absolutely delicious. On our way out, the chef even gave us a pocket warmer because it was cold outside. When we expressed how amazed we were by the flavor of Inca no Mezame potatoes, they generously shared some with us to take home. Contrary to the perception that the place might only cater to local regulars, it was a warm, welcoming, and truly delightful restaurant with exceptional food.
View on Googleeverything we ate was sooooo delicious! loved the sashimi platter, everything was so fresh! love the shellfish and the abalone!! we forgot to take a picture of the abalone. reservations are a must or you could try to walk in during late hours. the female service staff speaks english. the owner & chef is very friendly and made sure we were well taken care of... changing our plates, towels, etc... a must in kushiro
View on GoogleNo price listed on the menu sounds like a non-starter for tourists or people not familiar with the practice. How does someone know what they’re expected to pay without a price list? Apparently there is a price list somewhere; otherwise how could the restaurant tell their customers what to pay?
View on GoogleThe chef is very easy to talk to and knows lots of delicious things, so it was a fun learning experience. Delicious. It was fantastic. I'll keep coming back. The only thing was that the tempura oil was left over a flame the whole time, which worried me. When I told him, he turned it off. I'm glad it was prevented before anything happened. It's a shop worth visiting.
View on GoogleThis was one of the main events of my Kushiro trip, and I visited the night I arrived. Of course I had a reservation. Since I can't drink alcohol, I started with oolong tea and the otoshi (kazunoko and kelp). Next was asparagus tempura, very thick. I'd never seen anything like it. Next was Hanasaki crab served in its shell. It was cold and not so great. Next was grilled tokishirazu salmon. I thought ordinary grilled salmon tasted better. Finally, an assorted sashimi platter. There were many kinds like otoro, squid, octopus, uni, and shrimp, but none of them left an impression. I was full, so I asked for the bill. The total was 11140 yen. I had thought 10,000 yen would be enough and had prepared a 10,000 yen bill, so I had to dig another 2000 yen out of my wallet. The shop, if you want to put it nicely, is retro, but to me it looked dirty. Because my expectations were so high, I felt very disappointed. I was given 6 raw potatoes as a souvenir, but they were in the way so I threw them away at the hotel.
