Went a little after 8 p.m. It was our first visit, me and my partner, and they were pounding the meat really hard—I was startled by the noise at first. Rather than cutting the sinew, I thought it was just to stretch it out big so that even though it's thin, it looks substantial.. Anyway, it was really greasy, not the usual crispy katsu texture, and I figured the shop's selling point is quantity over quality. After getting home, both of our stomachs felt heavy until the next morning—it was my first time ever having indigestion. A young guy who's my boyfriend's coworker apparently loves it and goes often, and I thought, I guess young people don't get indigestion. Maybe it was just the katsu I happened to eat, and they might have good stuff too. But if you go, you may need to brace yourself a little.
View on GoogleOrdered the 580-yen chicken katsu set meal It took about 20 minutes to come out, but it was freshly fried, generous, and tasted good. I went back another day and ordered the demi-glace sauce rice bowl, but this one has a sweet seasoning, so opinions may be split. It's cheap, so the chicken is probably the safe bet.
View on GoogleThe ginger pork set meal is my favorite.
View on GoogleTheir main thing is cheap, generous set meals. There's also a one-coin lunch, and lots of university and high school students come here.
View on GoogleLarge rice or rice refills are free. The katsu has a unique texture and is delicious.
