On a quiet streetside in a lakeside town at 8:30pm where everything else seemed closed, the warm glow of what looks like a hotel cafe/bakery/bar was our lifesaver for a "late night" meal after a long drive. We were delighted that it was. The Nepalese chef has worked all over the world and so his menu reflects his experience. We opted for the Hokkaido Cheese platter and Charcuterie Board with the Prosciutto salad. All the nibbles were fresh and flavourful and enough to line our stomachs for the main meals. 3 of us opted for cast iron casserole Crock-Pot dishes: Bouillabaisse, Aioli Chicken & Roasted Veggies and Hokkaido Stewed Hamburger All were delicious - the stewed hamburger beef was rich and the gravy on the bread was moreish, the Bouillabaisse broth was deliciously savoury but not salty, and the Chicken was succulent with stewed in olive oil loaded with garlic. The Hokkaido Pork Bolognese was also a hit and was authentically meaty not sweet. The staff member Anjan was attentive and sociable, but did not rush us despite being the last ones there. He also generously treated us to Hokkaido's soft serve ice-cream which was a creamy, milky treat to finish our meal. We paired the meal with the house Shiraz, which didn't disappoint. We would strongly recommend this little nook on the corner next to Kamuy Lumina, as we would never usually go for a Hotel restaurant, but it felt like a great little find amidst the hotel buffets and away from the busloads of tourists.
View on GoogleModern looking Japanese cafe. We couldn't resist the soft cream, and cream puffs, the plain cream puff is nicer and has a touch of lemon zest to keep it bright. The tamago sando was okay, could do with a tiny pinch more salt and more egg mixture, less actual egg (sounds like an oxymoron).
View on GoogleWe came here for dinner last night and came back for lunch today. Last night we had the pasta bolognese with pork Katsu on top and it was divine. The fried octopus was also incredible. Today we had the smoked salmon and egg sandos which also hit the spot. Highly recommend!!
View on GooglePhenomenally tasty food at very affordable prices. Great jazz atmosphere and friendly service. Highly recommend. The choice in food may be slightly limited, but each dish looks and tastes like it belongs at a Michelin star restaurant!
View on GoogleI’m not sure about the food but the cream puff or “choux a la creme” were insanely good for the price paid (378 yen per puff). We tried the matcha and caramel ones. Both were amazingly good but the matcha was out of the world ! Worth the 5 stars review just for that ! The waiter was nice and helpful. Thanks a lot !
