It's on the way to Hosooka Observatory. The view isn't good.

Observation Plaza, Kushiro Marsh 2024/07/08 It's just before the nearby Hosooka Observatory, and before the climb there's a sign saying "Hosooka Observatory, with a better view, is further ahead with no stairs," but I went up the stairs to see what it was like. Sure enough, just as the sign said, the view was meh (lol)

Going up from the parking lot, you'll reach this observation plaza first before Hosooka Observatory, but the view is blocked by tall trees, so you can skip it.

I was originally hoping to take a canoe through the marsh, leisurely drifting through the wetlands, observing wildlife up close, and enjoying the tranquility and rich ecology of nature. Unfortunately, the weather was bad and the activity was canceled at the last minute. So I went to the observatory to gaze out over the marsh instead. Although I couldn't go into it myself, the distant view had its own charm and sort of scratched the itch. I hope next time I get the chance to actually paddle into the marsh and properly experience its unique natural charm.

This used to be an observation deck, but the stairs have rotted away. Looking out from the deck, the vegetation in front is so overgrown that the view is totally useless. If they cut back the plants, you should be able to see the old view of the winding river, so it's a shame.
