It's a good tasting ramen, but it's often too busy for me to bother going. I'm not willing to wait over an hour for noodles, although many people don't seem to mind.

I visited 「お食事処 大鵬」, a famous restaurant in Kuriyama, Hokkaido, with immense popularity among ramen lovers! I'd heard there was always a queue outside, so this time I visited a little outside the usual hours. I had the signature dish I'd been after, 「ネギラーメン(味噌)」, and its quality truly lived up to its reputation! The ramen arrived with an overwhelmingly impressive mountain of crunchy green onions piled in the bowl! The rich, deeply flavorful, slightly spicy miso broth with a punch of garlic was absolutely outstanding. The heat and texture of the green onions tossed in a special sauce matched the strong broth perfectly. The soup clung well to the noodles too, and it was so delicious I couldn't stop eating. Other people's Google Maps reviews praise it with comments like 「If you're in Kuriyama, 大鵬 is the only choice」 and 「Worth eating even if you have to queue」, and I think they're exactly right. It's so delicious and satisfying, but there really is 「a huge queue whenever you go」. Especially at lunchtime, you have to be prepared for a long wait, making it a little difficult when your schedule is packed. They also close as soon as the soup runs out, so aiming too late brings the worry that service might already have ended. Still, thanks to the staff's wonderfully efficient teamwork, the turnover is fast considering the queue, which left a good impression. A renowned restaurant definitely worth driving a long way to eat at, and one I'd absolutely recommend!

I had the green onion miso ramen and green onion miso garlic ramen I think ramen is something people's tastes differ on especially strongly… so this is just my personal impression… As you'd expect from a long-established restaurant… rather than a modern flavor with all sorts of secret ingredients, it was a simple miso ramen that felt a little salty… I like the strong garlic flavor The green onion miso garlic ramen also has garlic chips on top… but I thought the garlic on the table might have been enough… It might suit people who like old-fashioned ramen… As for the green onions… it felt like they were tossed with the doubanjiang on the table? (Sorry if I'm wrong) And there are things on the table like doubanjiang, chili vinegar, garlic, and ichimi chili powder to change the flavor… But doubanjiang is salty, so adding it made it even saltier, and I gave up on changing the flavor at the tasting stage That's a matter of taste too… so if you like it… Someone in another review put doubanjiang on their rice, so perhaps that's the right way? The staff were efficient, with separate roles for serving (payment), boiling noodles, and soup. The person handling the soup carefully tasted it each time, so I was impressed that the flavor must be consistent… but I saw them arrange ramen toppings and grab bean sprouts during cooking with the same hands they'd just used to handle money from a customer at the counter… A little disappointing… otherwise the turnover was fast, and I thought it was good

When I went back after a long time, there were people waiting in the drizzle despite it being a weekday. Turnover is quite fast, so I was seated in about 15 minutes. I ordered soy sauce rather than the classic green onion miso. It had been several years since I'd eaten it, And perhaps because I've gotten older, it tasted quite strong. I wanted to drink lots of the soup, So I considered adding a little water... But the pressuring gazes of people waiting for a seat made me give up. Even so, it was soup I wanted to drink. The efficiently working father is still going strong. But the son, who used to seem a little dreamy, is now the one giving instructions. I was impressed and relieved that the handover had been done properly. I hope this restaurant keeps doing well. ⊂(^(工)^)⊃ YOU CAN'T TAKE YOUR TIME.
