I stopped by when I came to Kuriyama. Although it's a 7–8 minute walk from the station and located down a side street, it's almost always full and is a popular place that most people in Kuriyama recommend. It's a Chinese restaurant, but it also has curry and omurice, like a town set-meal diner. The recommended dishes are said to be chā-men and fried rice, so I ordered chā-men and zangi (2 pieces). The chā-men is a yakisoba with thick sauce; the chewy, slightly charred noodles and the sauce go well together. Even though there were only 2 pieces, the zangi was a satisfying size. I really wanted fried rice too, but the portion is quite large, so I was already full. So I visited again the next day and had the fried rice, and even the regular size is comparable to a large portion at other shops, so this alone fills you up. The flavor is simple but you don't get tired of it, the kind of taste that makes you want to keep coming back. It's lively, and the staff are brisk and friendly. The prices are a bit high, though. But I can see why it's the shop that represents Kuriyama. I'd like to stop by again when I come to Kuriyama. Thank you for the meal♪
View on GoogleI went a little after 5 p.m., and about 80% of the seats were already filled. After that more customers came and it became full. I ordered the recommended chāmen and fried rice. True to a machi-chūka (neighborhood Chinese restaurant), the food is served quickly. The chāmen isn't strongly flavored, just right. The chāmen has a delicious old-fashioned taste. You can eat it to the end without getting tired of it.
View on GoogleI arrived around 11:45 on a Sunday, gave my name, and waited in the car until I was called. There were 6 groups ahead of me, but I was seated after about 30 minutes, so it was faster than I expected. The fried rice I had been longing to try was very delicious and I was very satisfied. The only thing that bothers me a little is that prices are rather high overall.
View on GoogleI entered around 5 p.m. on a Friday. I was shown to a seat right away, and ordering went smoothly. Within about 5 minutes, the ramen, piri chāmen, crab fried rice, and gyoza were served one after another. Everything was freshly made, piping hot. Also, when I asked for small plates to split a large fried rice among 3 people, they gave us the egg soup that comes with the fried rice for each person too. The service is almost too good. The taste felt slightly lighter than when I came long ago (more than 20 years ago), but I could taste the umami of the soup in the ramen, and in the fried rice the crab flavor wasn't buried, which was good. I wonder if the saltiness is okay for regulars who come every week? Very healthy. Since it was a bit short on saltiness, after eating half of the fried rice I added a little soy sauce and pepper from the table. There is free wifi, manga, etc. in the restaurant. The wifi was good enough to watch videos without stress. It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal. ――――――――――――――――― Below is my past 2-star review from last year I came around 12:30 on a Sunday, the seats for 4 were full, so I was given a buzzer terminal and told to wait in the car. But as a result, my turn was skipped and I was made to wait more than 30 extra minutes. In the end I was only seated after almost an hour, just before 1:30. While we were waiting, several groups such as families came and went, and I thought it was strange that we weren't called given our party size, so I went back inside and asked, and it came out. There were already at least 4 seats for 4 people open, including the raised tatami area. The owner apologized, but my family was hungry and became very grumpy after waiting an hour. We went out to eat because the family had gathered for the first time in a while, and my mood was spoiled, which was very disappointing. I've been coming regularly since the previous owner's time, and the food is delicious, but the quality of the floor part-timers and the operations were terribly disappointing. There seemed to be enough people, including a part-timer wearing a "in training" badge... has the wave of labor shortage and shortage of talent (quality) reached this far? The food was served about 10 minutes after ordering, piping hot and very delicious, so I'd like to give 5 stars, but overall it's about 2 stars. I hope they work hard on operations during busy hours.
View on GoogleStopped by while passing through during Golden Week. The parking lot was full. I don't know if they're locals or from other regions, but it seems to be a popular shop. The interior had a nostalgic feel, like an old-style coffee shop. Food was served smoothly after ordering. We had fried rice, ankake, and kani tama, and everyone said they were delicious, so I'm satisfied.
