It's a diner that uses a decommissioned railway station You'll be overwhelmed by the super huge portions on the menu Of course, the normal size is OK too I recommend the delicious tare katsu
View on GoogleI ordered the two-sword style katsudon and was surprised by the amount that came out, but it was laid over cabbage and the batter was super crispy and light. I finished it easily, but I'm super full. Way too good value! There are also lots of manga books inside, so it seems no amount of time would be enough.
View on GoogleThe ankake yakisoba might surprisingly be a good pick! I had business in Kunneppu for the first time in a while, so I went. When I looked at the menu, there was so much it seemed like there was nothing they couldn't make: set meals, curry, noodles, rice bowls, pasta, pizza, bento, desserts, à la carte dishes, soft drinks, alcohol, and even kids' meals — it's enough to make your head spin. There are table seats and a raised tatami area, and quite a lot of manga, so it seems good for taking a relaxing break too, plus there's a kids' play space, small though it is, and toys like you'd find at festivals or dagashi shops sold for 100 yen — they really think of everything. It's enjoyable for families, it can be used for lunch or as a café by people on sales calls, deliveries, or installation jobs, and there was a group of about 6 people using it for drinks. There are several kinds of soft serve and shaved ice, and takeout is available, so it's good for dropping in casually. They're open until 20:00, not the 17:00 closing common in the countryside, so you can usually make it in time. Kunneppu's soul food, the tare katsudon, is at the top, and the big-eater menu with crazy portions was on the menu board, but I wanted something other than katsudon so I ordered tonteki and pork chop. The taste was, I'd say, safe — neither good nor bad, like what's served at a chain izakaya. I went on another day too and ordered yakisoba and a strawberry parfait; I chose salt flavor for the ankake and it was surprisingly good. The parfait was quite filling and exceeded my expectations.
View on GoogleI went for the first time in mid-December 2024. Maybe because there are so many types of dishes, the menu is hard to read. I had the shrimp tendon (1119 yen); the taste was average.
View on GoogleI ordered the two-sword style fillet katsudon. It comes with 2 kinds, sauce and tare, and there's tare and sauce set out on the table. I thought, wouldn't it be fine to not pour it on from the start? The portion is quite big. You might get tired of it toward the end. Considering the volume, it feels cheap. I'd heard the service was bad, but when I went, I was served normally.
