View on GoogleExhibits the methods of making hakka (Japanese mint), the tools used in production, its history, and more. Admission is free. It was a weekday with few visitors, so the staff explained things carefully, which was very educational and made me more interested. Depending on the day and time, it seems you can also do workshop-style activities.

The shop inside also sells original mint products you can't get anywhere else, making it ideal for souvenirs. Furthermore, in the cafe space you can enjoy special drinks and sweets made with mint, savoring mint with all five senses. Hakka Jokan is a wonderful place to rediscover the appeal of mint and refresh both body and mind. Please visit once and experience its charm for yourself.
View on GoogleVisited on a weekday morning. A facility that demonstrates distillation of mint grown in Kitami and sells products. They demonstrate the refining of mint, which was Kitami's main industry. Mint is no longer an industry, so they secure materials through a small planting on the grounds plus contract farming. Inside, the successive generations of distillation equipment are preserved, which is also interesting. The shop sells various mint products. Some original products use mint from Kitami, so it's nice to buy them while reflecting on the history. Service is polite and no problem. It's worth a visit if you come to Kitami.
View on GoogleI stopped by to buy souvenirs after visiting the Hakka Memorial Museum. The staff showed us a mint distillation demo, and we could enjoy the aroma too. They explained the souvenirs carefully and even let us have samples, so I ended up buying a lot.
