I visited a family restaurant located along the road in Rubeshibe, Kitami, Hokkaido. This is a place I almost always stop by once or twice a year when I come to this area on business trips. The parking lot is very spacious, making it easy and convenient to visit by car. The menu includes familiar and comforting dishes such as curry rice, soba noodles, and hamburger doria. It is the kind of restaurant where families can dine casually, and it is also convenient for people traveling on business like me. The atmosphere feels welcoming and familiar, and it seems to be well loved by local residents. Kitami is famous for its onions, and the restaurant also offers a variety of menu items that make use of local ingredients, such as yakisoba with onions and scallops. It is not a flashy tourist-style restaurant, but rather a reliable local place where you can enjoy a satisfying meal. If you are driving through the Rubeshibe area and want an easy, comfortable place to stop for lunch or dinner, this restaurant is a good choice.
View on GoogleThe Shio Yakisoba is recommended. It is served on a hot plate and topped with onion rings. The Kitami region is famed for its local onions. Before serving, water (or broth?) would be poured on the hot plate giving it a nice sizzle. The curry rice with zangi is quite satisfactory too. As with many family restaurants, your meal comes with melon soda. A bit understaffed during my visit, and it was after the peak lunch period.
