For google map user, need to follow no.806 road instead. Then you will spot the entrance of ナイタイ高原牧場. Google map default route is totally wrong...☹️ The farm has a little cafe which you can enjoy milk or pumpkin ice cream. It has English menu for non-Japanese speakers. And there are hot dishes being served. The day we arrived is a foggy day and we cannot see anything from the very top... but it is believed that the view must be lovely when it is a sunny day.

View on GoogleThe scenery is very beautiful, you can see dairy cows, and you can buy milk to drink at the café at the destination. The biggest surprise was that on the way driving from Obihiro city to the ranch I came across a little fox. The greenery and little animals felt healing.
View on GoogleI went on a weekday with Tokachi-style clear weather. About 1 hour 30 minutes by car from Obihiro city. Unlike the roads in Kanto, the roads here flow smoothly so you don't get that tired. Fuel efficiency is good too. What the mountain roads here have in common is that, unlike Honshu, they're not narrow steep slopes; rather, you gently curve as you climb hills, and go over mountains that way. So you can enjoy the journey too while looking at the vast plain. As for Naitai Terrace itself, honestly, the view is overwhelmingly better from higher places, such as the summit via the summer gondola at Sahoro Ski Resort, and my impression was just "well, the Tokachi plain is wide." Maybe it's because I personally don't like the human-touched nature of Tokachi, and I'm not that fond of ranches either. It's said to be the largest ranch in Japan, but since it's a ranch spread across a slope, I didn't get an impression of it being wide. It is stylish though. And the food is fairly pricey too. Great for a date? If you're a couple who likes that sort of thing. There's no cow smell because it's at the upper part of the ranch. The road along the way smells more. I highly recommend it for those who think "great nature!" from aerial photos of Tokachi. I think it's comfortable. Soft serve is 450 yen. It costs about that in places like Nasu too, right?
View on GoogleRecommended spot! The scenery on the way there is very good, and the view from the terrace is the best. I had a hamburger, fries, and soft serve, and all were very delicious.
