When driving into Nukabira from the Obihiro direction, this is the only arch bridge on the Shihoro Line that comes into view on the left even if you aren’t paying attention. Because its middle section is completely missing, people often think the bridge collapsed, but the middle was an iron girder bridge and has been removed. If you go around to view it from below or from farther back, it is very impressive, especially with autumn leaves or fresh greenery. Brown bears are frequently seen in this area, so please be very careful when exploring alone.
View on GoogleI also discovered a bridge buried in trees before the remains of the Shihoro Line’s Fourth Otofuke River Bridge The landmark is Masumi Bridge It is immediately after leaving the Masumi road shelter, so if you’re going fast, you’ll pass it without noticing This bridge is beautiful too, so please take a look if you’re nearby Trees grow thickly on top of the bridge as well I can’t help admiring how they managed to run a railway through a place like this〜 The sight of it being swallowed by nature is simply beautiful Looking at the patterns appearing on the concrete, for some reason I thought of a dragon🐉 painting I saw at a temple in Kyoto I’d like to take my time enjoying it, but… Summer sightseeing in Hokkaido is always a battle with horseflies🪰 When you stand still to take photos, swarms of horseflies attack…
View on GoogleThis bridge was on the old line that closed in 1955年 when the tracks were rerouted due to construction of the Nukabira Dam. Heading toward Nukabira on National Route 273号, you can see it on the left immediately after exiting the tunnel. The middle section is where the iron girders were removed; the arch bridge did not collapse.
View on GoogleRemains of the Shihoro Line’s Fourth Otofuke River Bridge You view it from the national highway. There is a spot nearby that looks like a parking area, but it is on the opposite side from the bridge, so you need to be careful when crossing the national highway. I think the bridge itself has deteriorated considerably. Judging from what I saw with my own eyes, it looks like it might collapse in about another 10 years. By the way, this is only my personal impression, so please bear that in mind.
View on GoogleIt seems the middle of the bridge didn’t collapse; the iron bridge section was removed. Be careful when parking on the road shoulder
