士幌線五の沢橋梁跡 Located in 北海道河東郡上士幌町, 士幌線五の沢橋梁跡 is part of the former national railway 士幌線, which began operating in 1925 and was discontinued in 1987. It started at 帶廣站 and ended at 十勝三股站, with a total length of 78.3 kilometers. Many old arch bridge remains along the route attract people seeking secluded places and traces of the past. 士幌線 runs close to National Route 273, and parking is available on the road shoulders on both sides of the entrance. The entrance has no obvious sign, but it is easy to identify. After entering, there is a crossroads; straight ahead leads to the shore of 糠平湖, while the right turn leads to 五の沢橋. The 士幌線 tracks have been covered with stones, and following this stone path for several hundred meters brings you there. This bridge was completed in 1955, and a small stream flows beneath the 7-meter-long arch bridge. In spring and summer, the water murmurs; in autumn and winter, bare branches contrast with accumulated snow. An old bridge stands in the forest; in summer, clouds above the stream bring greenery into the secluded landscape, and stream water carries flowers out beneath the stone bridge; in winter, the gorge wears a thousand layers of snow, and the river freezes along a five-li bridge.
View on Google士幌線五の沢橋梁跡 In this area, the old railway route has become a walking trail It's a perfect little path for a stroll It's a very small bridge, but it's still in use as part of the walking trail Unlike the other bridges, being able to walk across it is part of its appeal True to 北海道 The stream water is clear The greenery is lush and beautiful And of course the horseflies still attack🪰 It's a short walk from the parking area, but there are signs and such, so it's easy to reach
View on GoogleThe murmuring of the little stream beneath the bridge is soothing. The straight, green-covered path along the old railway route on the way here is also pleasant and calming. The footing is slippery when going down beneath the bridge, so you need to be very careful. There is a parking strip along the national road.
View on GoogleAbout a 7-minute drive from the hot spring town of 糠平. The entrance to the walking trail is in the middle of a large parking lot where intercity buses stop. About 50m from the entrance, you reach the former tracks of the new 士幌線 route. From there, walking about 100m toward 糠平 brings you to 五の沢橋梁. The bridge is 5m long with a 7m arch, so you can see it from the national road when there are no leaves, but up close from below, it's surprisingly large.
