I went there this morning and was so mesmerized by the quality of the exhibition that I actually came back again this afternoon. Both times, I was the only visitor, allowing me to spend as much time as I wanted in front of these huge, traditional darkroom silver gelatin prints—a true rarity in photography exhibitions nowadays. I didn’t know the photographer, Koetsu Ichinei, before coming, but he is every bit as talented as Shinzo Maeda. Speaking of Maeda, I only wish the museum dedicated to him (Takushinkan near Biei) displayed the same type of traditional optical prints instead of those rather banal and finally boring digital pigment prints.
View on GoogleAn exhibition of the true beauty of the Daisetsuzan area by Ichinei Koetsu. Definitely worth checking out. The staff are very helpful and courteous. Spent a mesmerizing hour going through the exhibition.
