Nice little local restaurant near Toyota Farm (15 mins by car). Decent lunch set menu but accidentally finding Gyoza 🥟 is exceptionally delicious (strongly recommended). Friendly and attentive staff. Very good price.
View on GoogleTonton Tei in Kamifurano is a modest, cash-only eatery known for its pork-focused dishes, particularly the butadon (pork bowl) and miso soup. The restaurant takes pride in using 100% locally sourced Kamifurano pork, offering a range of dishes such as butadon, tonkatsu, and the regional specialty, sagari-yaki (grilled pork skirt steak). The butadon is a standout, often praised for its flavorful seasoning and reasonable price. It is typically served promptly and accompanied by a delightful set of side dishes, including miso soup, macaroni salad, and takuan. While the butadon garners high praise, the miso soup has received mixed reviews. Some diners appreciate it as a comforting addition to their meal, but others find it lacking in flavor and depth. Despite this, Tonton Tei delivers a home-style dining experience that highlights the quality of Kamifurano pork. Its simple setting and cash-only policy add to its no-frills charm. For those seeking an authentic taste of Kamifurano’s pork specialties in a casual and straightforward environment, Tonton Tei is a worthwhile stop.
View on Google10/10 the food, the vibe, very local tonkatsu was delicious juicy meat and crispy
View on GoogleThe katsu curry with its thick sauce and Kamifurano pork tonkatsu was very satisfying. The portion was just right to finish! Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleI had katsudon (regular). It came with miso soup and takuan. Lots of sauce, with a strong dashi flavor in the seasoning. The Kamifurano pork was tender and light. This is the kind you could eat endlessly. The miso soup was lightly flavored. It was a homey place offering good value. Thank you for the meal.
