The beer was delicious, but… After checking the website beforehand, I called for a final confirmation and was told they were open from 17:00, so I arrived shortly after 17:00. I went with friends from abroad. One of them went to order first and looked at me with a somewhat awkward expression, and the staff member explained to me: This is happy hour. We only accept half-pint orders. We can't serve food either. After 18:00 we only accept customers with reservations, so please leave by 18:00. That's what we were told, and various things differed from what we'd been led to expect. We weren't even expecting happy hour in the first place, so we wanted to order pints even if they cost a little more😓 The pint glasses were chilling right in front of us, so it didn't seem like they weren't ready. We had also checked the menu on the website beforehand and expected to have fries, edamame, and so on with our drinks, but were told those couldn't be served either, which was disappointing. Not mentioning happy hour on the earlier phone call was one thing, but I wish they'd told us about the various rules and inconveniences in advance. If we'd known beforehand, we could have booked for after 18:00 and simply enjoyed our beer comfortably. Furthermore, the person at the register (because my foreign friend spoke to them in English?) acted openly as if we were a nuisance. I felt bad for my friends and very upset. Incidentally, perhaps they got busy afterward and forgot, but nothing was said even though we stayed past 18:00. The beer was delicious, so I strongly hope they improve their hospitality so it can be enjoyed more casually.
View on GoogleSince going into town for dinner takes 15 minutes, we went to the brewery attached to the hotel. You can enjoy their own craft beer. You pay in advance. Perhaps because the ski resort is nearby, all the customers around us were foreigners. We experienced an atmosphere that felt like being abroad. The beers ranged from fruity ones to those with deep flavors. The staff also work at いわない高原ホテル. They're all friendly, nice people.
View on GoogleAs a beer lover, I visited after hearing that beer was being made in Iwanai, the birthplace of hops. There were several kinds of beer, and you could choose from 3 glass sizes; of course, I had a large glass. I personally really like pilsner, so エブリデイ was my favorite. I also like モルティ and クロポン〜!! All the food goes well with beer!! The garlic toast and fish & chips were fantastic♪ I'd like to visit again!!!
View on GoogleI enjoyed dinner here while staying at 高原温泉ホテル. The brewery is very good. Choosing all-you-can-drink and having your favorite beer poured right in front of you is such fun! They also have limited beers and non-alcoholic drinks, and plenty of food.
View on GoogleIt's on the same grounds as いわない高原ホテル. The brewery is in a triangular-roofed building that also offers accommodation, and apparently guests can use the hot spring at いわない高原ホテル. For the tasting set, we could choose 3 beers we liked. Each was said to be 200cc, with different colors and flavors, and we enjoyed all of them. There was a variety of food too, including substantial rice bowls. The atmosphere is bright and seems likely to appeal to foreign visitors as well. The hotel is about a 3-minute walk away, so its proximity was no problem even in winter.
