Not the best Chinese food I’ve ever had, but everything was good! Nothing bad. The tousyoumen and fried rice were really great. The staff were a little standoffish. Otherwise, the prices were fine, and the portions were huge!
View on GoogleRatan 1180 yen, large rice 380 yen Came here looking for ratan. Big parking lot, spacious inside too. Saturday at 6 p.m., a few groups of customers. At night there don't seem to be cheap sets or anything. Water and tea are self-serve Apparently it's affiliated with Gyokurin, and the decorations inside give it atmosphere. Neat, bright interior The ratan is extremely good—or rather, it's strikingly similar to Gyokurin's. Practically on par. It has wonderful heat, richness, and umami. The volume is like the real thing too. I sometimes eat the one at Unjo Hanten in Motomachi, and it's not bad, but the saltiness is harsh, whereas this one is very mellow. It goes amazingly well with rice too. They seem to also have knife-cut noodles (tosomen) with a ratan base, which must be delicious I got the large rice, but it's not that much. Because the bowl is small Gyokurin is crowded so I tend to avoid it, but I'm glad to find out I can eat ratan of almost the same level in Iwamizawa! It's not cheap, but rating on taste, 5 stars
View on GoogleFairly spacious inside, moderately busy Comfortable whenever I go♪ My food rating is for the thick-sauce knife-cut noodles (toromi tosomen). Superb!! This is pretty much the only thing I order here. The photo is the spicy knife-cut noodles, which made an impact. The normal one isn't that spicy. Probably a breeze for people who love spicy food. They say you can adjust the spice level.
View on GoogleThe noodles are so chewy they have a rubbery texture. The karaage was crispy. The fried rice is the sticky type. Overall, the flavors are bland.
View on GoogleFirst visit since they relocated. When I went in on a Sunday around 5:05 p.m., the place was full of customers. It seemed like food would be served after waiting over 30 minutes, so it's tough if you don't have time to spare. I love the knife-cut noodles and gyoza here—they're delicious.
